Chapter 69 Two Conditions

Chapter 69 Two Conditions

Manfred pulled the chip back into his palm, his expression saying, “Don’t get too excited just yet.

“I can take you as my apprentice, but there are two conditions, and you only need to fulfill one. First, you must get admitted as my direct graduate student at Claver University. Second, win a gold medal at the

International Al Competition by the end of the year.”

He closed the ornate box and pushed it aside. “Once you achieve either of these, this chip will truly be

yours. Until then, I’ll keep it safe for you.”

Rosalie wasn’t intimidated by the strict conditions. Instead, a rush of determination surged through her.

She thanked Manfred and assured him, “Don’t worry, Professor Fisher. I won’t disgrace your name.”

Back at her apartment, Rosalie was in such a good mood she could almost hum a tune. She tied on her

apron and cooked some barbecue ribs and meatloaf.

The rich aroma filled the apartment, and just as she finished, the doorbell rang.

Julian stood at the door in his black training outfit, like a well-trained dog returning home, casually

wandering in for dinner.

After dinner, he leaned against the couch and asked, “Want to take a walk downstairs? Helps with

digestion.”

Rosalie immediately thought of last night, when he had held her hand while they strolled through the park.

Without hesitation, she refused, “No, I want to read for a while.”

She paused, then added, “Besides, the park’s full of mosquitoes. I’m not going to be their blood bag again.”

Julian didn’t press. He got up to leave.

“Wait,” Rosalie suddenly called after him.

He turned, his eyes catching hers under the warm light.

Rosalie felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze. Clearing her throat, she tried to sound calm and asked, ” Do you have time this Saturday afternoon? My mother wants to meet you

Julian paused for a second, then answered in a low voice, ‘I do.”

Relief washed over her. “Great I’ll send you the address, then”

The next morning, as soon as Rosalie arrived at Vertex Tech, her inbox pinged with an email from Vista Furnishings.

The subject read, “Successful Collaboration.”

Excitement surged through everyone at Vertex Tech.

“We did it! Ms. Ashford, you’re amazing!”

“Oh, my God… This isn’t a dream, right? We just locked in a collaboration with Vista Furnishings, under

Yarwood Group!”

All eyes turned to her with a mix of awe and admiration.

Rosalie smiled and said, “Thank you all for your hard work. Dinner is on me tonight. Let’s celebrate at

Cinder Grill across the street!”

Amid the cheers, a shadow in the corner looked uneasy, clutching a phone before slipping quietly into the

restroom.

That evening, inside the private room at Cinder Grill, the atmosphere was lively.

Watching her subordinates laugh and joke, Rosalie pulled out her phone and sent a message to Julian.

“I’m having dinner with my team tonight, so I didn’t make anything at home. Want to come grab a bite? It’s

not far from your firehouse.”

He replied quickly, “Not coming. You all enjoy yourselves.”

A second message appeared a second later. “If you’re drinking, I can pick you up.”

Rosalie felt a warmth flood her chest as she read the message. She replied, “Not drinking, but come pick me up soon. If I stay here, they won’t be able to truly enjoy themselves with me around.”

Not long after, her phone buzzed.

Rosalie stood, waved casually at everyone in the room, and said, “My husband’s here to pick me up. I’ll

head out first. Enjoy your meal-I’ve already covered the bill.”

The room erupted in excitement. “No way! Ms. Ashford actually married someone?”

“Her husband? She says it so naturally!”

“Quick! Get to the window and see!” someone shouted, and a crowd surged toward the window.

Down below, beside a sleek Bentley, a man in a black T-shirt leaned against the car door. Streetlights stretched his tall frame into a long shadow, his broad shoulders and narrow waist giving his silhouette an imposing presence.

He straightened, walked around to the passenger side, and opened the door.

“Wow! That’s Ms. Ashford’s husband? He’s gotta be at least six foot three!”

“Look at those arms! Those legs! Pure walking testosterone!”

“Oh, my God, this man is ridiculously masculine! Who could survive that door-opening move?”

A female colleague covered her face, whispering excitedly, “Ms. Ashford is too lucky…” Nearby, a male colleague smirked and added, “With that build, his stamina’s got to be insane…”
