Chapter 62 Captain Yarwood’s Wife
Julian seemed to notice Rosalie. Holding his helmet, he strode toward her.
His walk had a relaxed, slightly tired sense to it, yet there was a roguish, casual charm in his stride.
“Off work already? Not busy today?” he asked as he approached.
The firefighters who had just gotten off the truck noticed them and gathered nearby, whispering curiously among themselves.
“Wow, check out that beauty! She’s stunning!”
“How does Captain Yarwood know someone that gorgeous?”.
“Look at him! That gaze says it all. He’s practically swooning! She’s definitely his wife.”
“No way! Our firehouse’s legendary bachelor finally settled down?”
Their chatter was a bit too loud, and Rosalie felt her cheeks flush uncontrollably.
She replied softly, “Not busy. Do you still want some barbecue ribs? I can make them tonight.”
His voice was low and calm. “Save the food for me. I might be late tonight. The crew added a last-minute
drill.”
“Okay.” Rosalie nodded and waved. “I’ll head off first.”
She took a couple of steps before suddenly seeming to remember something and spun around. Julian
was still standing there, his tall figure stretched long in the sunset and his gaze steady on her.
“Be careful. Don’t get hurt,” Rosalie reminded him, then pointed to her cheek with a playful gesture. “And
wash your face before you go.”
After that, she finally turned and walked briskly away.
As soon as she left, the firefighters swarmed Julian.
“Captain Yarwood! That’s your wife, right?”
“She’s gorgeous and so classy! Like she walked straight out of a TV show!”
“I knew you had high standards. Only someone this stunning could match you.”
Julian watched Rosalie’s slender figure vanish around the corner and gave a light nod.
“Seriously? She’s your wife!” one of the firefighters exclaimed.
“Our firehouse’s legendary bachelor has finally been brought to life!” another said.
“I’m so hyped. I can carry two extra air tanks during tonight’s drill!”

Julian withdrew his gaze, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth, before he quickly smoothed it away. Then, he turned and headed toward the firehouse.
“Save your energy. Don’t cry for help during the drill,” he said.
Rosalie finished making dinner and grabbed a small bite for herself before curling up on the couch with a
book, waiting.
Now and then, she glanced over at the dishes she had kept warm under the bowls. She would reach out and touch the sides of the bowls to check the temperature.
It wasn’t until 9:00 pm that a knock came at the door. Rosalie immediately put down her book and went
to answer it.
As the door swung open, a fresh scent of shower gel mixed with mint hit her. Julian had just showered, his hair still damp. Without the weight of his uniform, his broad shoulders and narrow waist made him
look even more striking.
“Got held up on a call,” he explained.
“No problem,” Rosalie said, stepping aside to let him in. “I’ll heat your food.”
After Julian finished eating, he was about to leave. Rosalie put down her book and said, “How about we take a walk downstairs to help digest?”
Julian’s eyes met hers, and after a few seconds, he nodded. The night breeze was cool, and a few neighbors were strolling around the community.
One friendly woman spotted them and waved warmly. “Hey, just moved in? Haven’t seen you around
before.”
Another woman chimed in cheerfully, “What a perfect match! You really suit each other.”
Rosalie felt her cheeks heat up and gave an embarrassed smile without explaining. She glanced at Julian
beside her.
His expression remained calm, and he did not explain.
The two neighbors walked away, still smiling warmly. The night breeze swept past, leaving the two of
them in silence.
Julian suddenly stopped in his steps. He turned slightly, and the streetlight cast shadows over his eyes as he asked in a low voice, “Are you upset?”
Rosalie froze.
He asked again, “Did the board meeting not go well?”
The thought of someone seeing her vulnerability made her chest tighten.

Rosalie sighed but didn’t answer directly. Instead, she asked, “Julian, your father… Has he been good to
you?”
