Chapter 61 Stop Being So Full of Yourself

Rosalie lifted her gaze. The retort, “What does it have to do with you?” rolled on the tip of her tongue

before she swallowed it back.

She knew it was pointless to say anything. Julian had always insisted on treating her like a little sister he

needed to control.

So instead, she chose a different approach. “A tall, handsome, and really manly guy.”

For a moment, Lucian’s anger stilled before twisting into thick ridicule. “Rosalie, when are you going to stop being so childish? Don’t think that getting some random man to pretend he’s your husband will upset

me enough to make me change my mind.”

Rosalie frowned. “And when will you stop being so full of yourself? I got married in a rush only to take

back what was rightfully mine.”

Glaring at him, she added, “Who do you think you are?”

He gave a derisive laugh. “So, did you get it back? Your father doesn’t even acknowledge it. If you ask me,

that certificate is probably fake, too.”

Lucian looked at her with absolute certainty. She loved him so fiercely, so how could she possibly marry

another man on the very day they were supposed to wed?

It had to be a fake certificate. Nothing but an act to provoke him.

“You…” Rosalie was infuriated by his arrogance. Snatching up her bag, she was ready to throw the

certificate folder straight at his face.

“Fine,” she snapped. “Then, let me show you once and for all if it’s real or not!”

But after fumbling inside her bag for a long time, Rosalie still couldn’t find it. A sinking feeling hit her chest, and in frustration, she dumped everything out onto the desk.

Lipstick, makeup powder, earphones, and car keys-all scattered across the surface, yet the certificate folder was nowhere to be found. Her eyes widened sharply as she froze in shock.

Lucian’s cold sneer deepened. “So, where’s the certificate? For a moment, I almost believed you actually did it. Turns out you were bluffing all along.”

Straightening up, he adjusted his cuff with a lofty air. “Rosalie, stop using these pathetic tricks to come between me and Camelia. We will get married, and of course, you’ll always be my little sister.

“I’ll prepare generous wedding gifts for you, and when you meet a man who truly loves you, I’ll make sure you have the grandest wedding. But don’t ever test my limits like this again.”

With that, he turned and strode away.

All Rosalie could think about was where the marriage certificate had gone. She replayed everything in her

head.

From the board meeting to the office, her bag had never left her side. Except for one moment.

2/2

During the meeting, when several elderly board directors surrounded her, she had placed her bag on the

chair behind her. That had to be when it happened-someone had stolen the marriage certificate.

But who, and for what purpose?

Rosalie’s heart sank.

The worst part was that the conference room’s surveillance cameras had been shut off to prevent leaks

of business secrets, so she had no way to trace it.

By the time she left work, frustration weighed so heavily on her that she was reluctant to drive. She just

wanted to walk and clear her head.

Lost in thought, she was startled by the sounds of sirens drawing closer. Looking up, she saw a fleet of fire trucks roaring past her with unstoppable urgency.

Instead of continuing into the distance, the convoy turned into a large compound nearby.

Rosalie glanced at the entrance. The bold words, Harborview Fire Department, stood clearly visible.

Then, she remembered that Julian worked there.

Almost as if drawn by some unseen force, she found herself walking toward the station gate. Just as she

neared, the door of the lead fire truck swung open with a heavy thud.

A muddy boot hit the ground, and a tall figure leapt down. The man wore the bright orange uniform of a firefighter. In one arm, he held his helmet while the other wiped across his face.

Soot and ash were smeared across his face and neck like primal war paint. It made his sharp features stand out even more, and his jawline was as clean-cut as if carved by a blade.

The sight of it left Rosalie frozen. She stared at him in a daze.
