Chapter 52 You Haven’t Been Coming Over for Meals Lately

After a moment, the door finally opened. Julian seemed to have just finished showering.

A towel hung loosely around his waist, and droplets of water still clung to his bronzed skin. His damp black hair fell across his forehead, and a bead of water slid down his sharp jawline and over his Adam’s

apple.

His sculpted chest, well-defined abs, and sleek Adonis belts-every inch radiated raw masculinity.

Even though Rosalie had seen it a few times, she couldn’t help but let her gaze linger a moment longer.

Soon, her gaze fell on his arm, where the scalded blisters were.

They appeared even redder and swollen after being rinsed by the water. Pressing her lips together, she

held out the lunchbox and a small bag of medicine.

“This is for you,” she said.

Julian didn’t take them. Instead, he turned and walked straight into the bedroom, leaving the door open.

With no other choice, Rosalie followed him in and set the things on the dining table. This was the second time she had stepped into his apartment.

The first time, she had been in such a fluster that all she caught sight of was the workout equipment that

filled the place. She finally noticed today that the apartment was decorated in tones of sharp black, white,

and grey.

It was so neat that it felt cold, and a faint scent of shower gel lingered in the air.

The bedroom door was open, and the low hum of a hair dryer came from inside. Rosalie glanced in but

didn’t step any further.

A moment later, Julian came out, towel-drying his half-damp hair. He saw her and arched a brow.

“You’re still here?” he asked.

Embarrassed by his question, Rosaslie scrambled for something to say. “Well… I just wanted to ask why

you haven’t been coming over for meals lately?” The moment the words left her mouth, she regretted

them.

It was strange. At first, she wasn’t used to having him at the dinner table. But now that he had stopped

coming, even eating alone felt less enjoyable.

Julan paused, his dark eyes fixed on her with an unreadable expression. “I thought you’d gotten back with your ex. If I showed up, wouldn’t I just be in the way?”

Rosalie immediately recalled the scene outside the hospital and hurried to explain. “There’s nothing between us anymore. What happened last time was just a misunderstanding”

He let out a short laugh, his tone laced with a probing chill. “If you’re still hung up on him, you’re free to

chase him back.”

She met his gaze steadily, her words deliberate and crystal clear. “Julian, now that we’re married, I won’t betray this relationship. You have my word.”

Julian didn’t reply. He only opened the lunchbox she had brought.

Inside was the meatloaf and bacon Rosalie had cooked herself. Without hesitation, he picked up his

cutlery and began eating.

Relieved, she stepped closer, her eyes inevitably drawn to his injured arm. The blisters had already burst,

exposing raw flesh that looked painfully inflamed.

Her brows knitted together. “Your burn… Let me treat it for you.”

Julian gave it a brief glance and dismissed it lightly. “It’s nothing. Just give it a couple of days and it’ll be

fine.”

Ignoring him, Rosalie uncapped the iodine bottle and dipped a cotton swab into it before firmly taking

hold of his strong arm. “No. It’s still your body, and an injury is an injury.”

Her lashes lowered as she worked, her voice soft but firm. “And you should be more careful during

missions.”

Rosalie’s delicate fingers rested against his solid arm, the contrast striking. Julian’s body stiffened

instantly.

A strange, electric sensation surged from the point of contact, straight to his heart. Never, in all his years, had anyone tended to his wounds so gently before-let alone reminded him to take care of himself.

The sting of the disinfectant spread through his skin, but Julian stayed silent, his dark gaze fixed on her focused profile. She squeezed ointment onto her fingertip and carefully spread it over the burn, her touch so light as though she feared hurting him.

“Just bear with it for a bit. Once the medicine sets, it won’t scar,” she said.

Just as Rosalie was about to pull her hand away, Julian suddenly grabbed her wrist. With a sharp tug, he

pulled her forward, and she stumbled right into his burning chest.
