Chapter 46 I Told You to Disappear Right Now. Don’t You Understand

Rosalie lowered her head. She focused solely on stirring the soup with her spoon, not daring to meet Julian’s eyes.
Julian’s gaze deepened as he watched her flushed earlobes and the soft crown of her hair. Unable to
resist, he reached out and ruffled her hair.
“I’ll go get some water. Just make sure you take your medicine afterward,” Julian said, rising to his feet. After he left, his tall figure took the room’s overwhelming tension with him.
It was only then did Rosalie finally let out a quiet breath of relief. After taking the medicine, she
instinctively reached for her thesis.
But just two lines in, the pages were pulled right out of her hands. “You’re looking at it before you’ve even recovered?” Julian frowned. “Get some sleep first. You can look at it later.”
“But I-” She tried to argue, but when her eyes met the depth of his dark and penetrating gaze, every word lodged in her throat. All she could do was press her lips together and obediently lie down.
Rosalie thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep, but before long her eyelids grew heavy, and she drifted off.
Some time later, she was startled awake by a low but shrill voice outside the room. “I told you to disappear right now. Don’t you understand?”
Opening her eyes, Rosalie saw Julian’s tall figure blocking the doorway, his back to her. She propped
herself up and asked, “Mr. Yarwood, who’s outside?”
Before he could answer, a head poked in from under his arms. It had striking ash-grey hair, peach blossom eyes, and spoke in a breezy and familiar tone.
“Rosalie! You’re awake! I heard you were sick, so I came to visit. I’m Edmond!”
As Edmond spoke, he slipped past Julian and plopped a massive fruit basket onto the nightstand with a
thud.
“Hello,” Rosalie greeted politely, instinctively glancing at Julian’s stormy expression. “Mr. Yarwood, could you pour Mr. Fairbank a glass of water?”
“Don’t trouble yourself, Rosalie. I’ll help myself!” Edmond grinned, looking her over with playful curiosity. It’s no wonder Julian dropped everything to stay glued to the hospital. I mean, who could resist?”
Stealing a glance at Julian, he continued, “With such a gorgeous wife, who wouldn’t? If you don’t keep an eye on her, someone’s bound to steal her away.”
At that, Julian’s face darkened further. “Have you seen enough? If so, get out.”
“Hey now, don’t be like that.” Edmond’s eyes lit up with mischief. He suddenly hooked an arm around Julian’s neck. “Rosalie, do you mind if I borrow your husband for a few minutes? I’ll return him in no time!”

Ignoring Julian’s murderous glare, he dragged him out of the room and even thoughtfully closed the door
behind them.
At the far end of the corridor, on the balcony, Edmond pulled out a cigarette. He held it up to Julian’s lips.
with a smirk. “Want one?”
Julian turned his head aside, his voice cold as ice. “I don’t smoke.”
“Tch,” Edmond shrugged, lighting one for himself. “You really can keep up the act, so what’s up?”
Leaning lazily against the railing, the playful glint in his peach-blossom eyes faded into something more
serious.
“But seriously, Julian, what the hell is going on with you? How did you end up in a flash marriage with her? Was it just because she’s a beauty? A face doesn’t put food on the table. You didn’t even bother to run a background check?”
Hearing that, Julian didn’t respond. He only gave Edmond a cold, sidelong glance that made the air
around them feel heavy and suffocating.
Edmond felt his scalp tighten under that stare, but he pressed on anyway. “Dude, do you even realize who she is in Lucian’s circle? Your new wife is infamous for being a lovesick fool. She’s been head over heels for Lucian her entire life. They used to be the golden couple of the scene, so sweet that it made everyone
gag.
“But not long ago, Lucian suddenly had a change of heart and dumped her. Everyone who had been sick of their lovey-dovey act was just waiting for her to break down and make a scene.”
He leaned closer, lowering his voice and continued, “But do you know what happened? She didn’t cry, didn’t scream, didn’t say a single word. She just vanished, quiet as if she’d been erased from the world.”
Edmond’s tone grew sharper. “Julian, do you know what this means?”
Julian’s eyes darkened, like ink spreading in water. “Say it.”
