Chapter 381 Wont Be Coming Here Again

Chapter 38 I Won’t Be Coming Here Again

Night had fallen, and the karaoke room shimmered with shifting lights. This was the last party Rosalie and her roommates would have before they graduated. The room reeked of beer, and the sorrow of parting hung heavily in the air.

Her roommates had burst into tears, holding onto the microphone, singing melancholy songs about everlasting friendship.

“Rosalie, will we ever meet again?”

“We’re all from different parts of the country. It’s impossible for us to gather like this again.”

Rosalie’s eyes were red. Instead of crying at the top of her lungs, she sat there as quiet tears slid down her cheeks. Raising her cup, she spoke in a hoarse voice.

“Look me up if you guys are ever in Claver. I’ll show you guys around.”

One of Rosalie’s roommates wiped tears and said playfully, “You’re taking over a big group company in the future. Ordinary folks like us will never be good enough to hang out with someone like you.”

Another roommate suddenly wore a serious expression and grabbed her hand.

“Don’t say that! In the future, all of us have to be there for each other’s weddings, no matter where we are or how busy we are. You hear me?

“We’ll be there for each other!”

After the party was over, Rosalie went back to her hotel, reeking of alcohol, feeling extremely dizzy. She threw herself onto the big, soft bed and immediately drifted off to sleep.

By the time she woke up again, her eyes were stinging from the sunlight pouring through the window. The headache from the hangover was so much that she frowned. Then, she was immediately stunned.

Rosalie’s face felt clean, and her feet no longer felt sticky. Someone had washed them for her, but left her clothes untouched.

She propped herself up and sat on the bed, immediately seeing a paper on the headboard. She was extremely familiar with the handwriting-it belonged to Lucian.

“You know you’re a light drinker. I know you still can’t move on from me, but we have to look forward. It’s time for you to move on.

“Also, you should thank Camelia for giving you the chance to graduate smoothly with the title, outstanding graduate.’ I’ve done everything I have to do on campus. I won’t be coming here anymore.”

Rosalie grabbed her phone. The screen was full of messages from her roommates.

“Rosalie, your boyfriend came to the dorm, looking for you last night. We gave him your hotel room number. He still loves you deeply. Just find a way to communicate with him, and I’m sure you two can

patch things up in no time!”

Rosalie put her phone down and tore the paper to pieces. Then, she got out of bed and packed her luggage. She booked the earliest flight back to Claver.

Her plane had just touched down when a news notification popped up on her phone.

“Fire Erupts in Claver’s Western Industrial Zone. Firefighters Responding in Full Force.”

Rosalie frowned and tapped on the news.

In the picture, the fire blazed and reached for the sky. Countless firefighters ran against the crowd, charging into the infernal nightmare. It almost felt like she could feel the searing wave across the screen.

Rosalie offered a silent prayer to heaven, wishing that nobody would get hurt.

She returned to her apartment briefly before making her way to the company. The whole time, she kept an eye on the news about the fire.

It was only when the news reported that the fire was under control and all firefighters were safe that she

felt relieved.

Evening came, and Rosalie prepared two dishes and a soup for dinner. She pulled out her phone and sent

Julian a text.

“Get down here for dinner.”

Before long, someone knocked on her door. When she opened it, she was stunned by what she saw.

Julian’s towering figure almost filled the entire doorway. He had a bag of rice on his shoulder, a big bottle of cooking oil in his left hand, and a slab of pork in his right, which looked exceptionally good.

He walked past her and made his way to the kitchen. With several thuds, he unloaded everything on the

counter.

“It’s from the department.”

Rosalie was stunned for a moment before she found her voice again. “Your department sure takes care of

its staff.”

“Yeah, they do.”

She looked at the slab of pork and said, “I’ll make another dish. Give me a minute.”

Julian didn’t respond to her. Turning around, he headed for the living room and sank into Rosalie’s single

couch.

He casually picked up the reference book that she had read halfway through and flipped through it.

Rosalie cast a glance into the living room and noticed Julian reading her book intently, his side profile looking particularly chiseled underneath the soft glow.

She couldn’t help but grumble internally. How could a firefighter understand what her book was about?

The pork sizzled in the pan, its rich aroma filling the air.

Rosalie wiped her hand and walked out of the kitchen.
