Chapter 115 Stand Toe to Toe
Lucian took the phone and tapped the profile photo he knew by heart.
He was already turning toward his office as he scrolled through the phone.
Not long after, he suddenly slammed the phone against the table in a fit of fury.
Every assistant flinched, heads ducking as they held their breath in fear.
A moment later, Lucian’s furious voice rang out. “Harvey, get in here now!”
Harvey jolted, pushed the door open, and stepped quickly into Lucian’s office.
The air was so heavy it was suffocating.
Lucian stood with his hands pressed to the desk, his back facing the door.
Harvey’s phone lay on the table, its screen shattered into a web of cracks. In the center of the broken glass glowed Rosalie’s latest post.
Her profile was now public, but every post about Lucian had been wiped clean.
Lucian stared at the tag-@JulianYarwood–until his eyes burned.
“Did you find the guy?” he asked, forcing the words through his teeth.
Harvey immediately held out a tablet. “Yes, Mr. Fenwick. He is the station chief at Harborview Fire Department.”
Lucian took the tablet, his long fingers sliding across the screen.
“Harborview?” Lucian repeated, and a darker note slid into his tone. “Didn’t I just sponsor
two trucks for that station?”
Sweat beaded on Harvey’s forehead. “Mr. Fenwick, they declined the donation.”
They declined it?
Lucian’s head snapped up, a storm breaking behind his eyes. Then, the pieces clicked.
No wonder the fire trucks showed up so quickly that day, and the lead firefighter rushed in like
his life didn’t matter. He was just afraid of losing his sugar mommy.
A cold smile touched Lucian’s lips. “So, he thinks he can stand toe to toe with me.”
He flicked through the dossier and frowned. “Why is his background a blank page?”
Harvey quickly explained, “Most of those men are former special forces. Their records are classified.”
Chapter 115 and 10 10 The
His voice dropped to a whisper. “We tried to dig deeper, but hit a wall.”
Lucian’s expression darkened, and his sneer deepened. “He lives on the edge of life and death. What kind of stability could he possibly give Rosalie?”
He narrowed his eyes and tapped a finger against the desk, as if plotting something. “It’s been
a while since I last met with Mr. Ashford.”
He looked up at Harvey, his eyes sharp and cold. “Set up a meeting with Mr. Ashford. It’s time he kept a closer watch on Rosalie.”
For the next two days, Rosalie barely looked up from her desk.
The company had started working again, but the fire had wiped out all the files. Entire projects now had to be rebuilt from zero.
But fortunately, the core technical files and the patent binders had been locked in her safe.
By the time Richard came back from Harborview Fire Department for the third time, his expression was as sour as unripe fruit.
“Ms. Ashford, I’ve said everything I could, but they won’t budge. They insist that the safe is critical evidence from the fire scene and can only be released with Captain Yarwood’s
signature.”
Richard looked at Rosalie and asked cautiously, “Maybe… You should go in person.”
