Chapter 114. What if He Wants a Baby
Rosalie’s Instagram was wiped clean, blank as a fresh page. She switched her account from private to public and tapped the plus sign to post.
Ursula was still flooding her WhatsApp with messages and even tossed over a suggested caption. “Gift from my husband. Love you!”
But Rosalie ignored it and came up with her own caption for the bracelet photo on her wrist.
“Wiped the past and started over. First post for @JulianYarwood.
The bracelet you chose is perfect. I love it. Here’s to the rest of our lives together.”
Then, she hit send.
Soon after, her phone began to buzz without stopping.
Then, Ursula squealed through the speaker, thrilled beyond reason. “You’re awesome! You wiped your whole feed! Well done! You’ve finally let go of the past and are ready to start a new relationship!”
“I let go a long time ago,” Rosalie said calmly. “I’m just not looking for another relationship. But I’ll do my part. Julian’s a good man, and I won’t hold him back. If we’re not divorcing, I can give him everything he wants, except love.”
“You…” Ursula was so furious she could hardly speak. “You’re so stubborn! I was happy for nothing! Julian isn’t like Lucian. He would never lie to…”
She stopped short. Did Julian keeping his identity a secret count as lying?
Ursula quickly changed her words. “He won’t betray you! You have to trust me! I would never set you up!”
“I know you wouldn’t,” Rosalie said softly. “But loving someone is exhausting. I’m done living like that.”
This time, all she wanted was a simple life. She wanted to take back what was hers and protect her mother. That was enough.
“You really are once bitten, twice shy,” Ursula grumbled, then pressed on without missing a beat. “Fine. You said you’d give him everything but love. What if what he wants is a baby? Will you agree to that?”
The question landed hard, and Rosalie needed a moment before she answered.
She had never pictured having a child with anyone but Lucian.
Chapter 114 What if He Wants & Baby
In her previous life, Lucian had worn her down over the baby, and the IVF attempts had nearly broken her.
Now, she realized that her obsession with having a child was gone.
When she finally spoke, her voice was cold and indifferent. “I don’t like kids.”
“But you just said you’d give him anything! What if he wants a baby?” Ursula refused to let the point go.
Rosalie paused for a moment, then said, “He can use a surrogate.”
“Rosalie, are you out of your mind? How could you even say that?” Ursula hissed, her frustration crackling through the line.
“You know what, forget it! Your head’s a mess! Call me after you’ve slept it off!”
She hung up without waiting for an answer.
Rosalie stared at the screen and asked herself the same question.
If Julian ever wanted a child, would she say yes? Her answer was no.
The struggle to get pregnant had been too painful, and she would never endure it again.
That night, Julian didn’t come home for dinner.
Silence filled the apartment as night closed in, leaving her alone with her thoughts.
The next morning at Fenwick Corp, a knot of junior assistants whispered outside the president’s office.
The elevator doors slid open, and Lucian stepped out in a bespoke suit. He raised an eyebrow when he heard someone mention that Rosalie had started posting on Instagram again.
The whispering died the second they noticed Lucian. The room fell silent, a nervous tension settling over everyone.
Lucian strolled closer, letting his gaze pass over each face.
“What did she post about me this time?” he asked confidently.
For seven years, Rosalie’s feed had been all about him. She even added all his assistants‘
contacts just to make sure she never missed a single update about him..
No one dared to speak under Lucian’s piercing gaze. Only his special assistant, Harvey Jacobs, stepped forward and held out his phone.
“Mr. Fenwick, you… You should probably take a look for yourself.”
