Chapter 107 Are You That Desperate to Be My Shadow
Without noticing Rosalie at all, Lucian and Camelia walked straight to a nearby booth.
Rosalie quickly averted her gaze, her focus shifting back to Julian across the table.
The same outfit looked completely different on the two men.
On Julian, it exuded pure masculinity, with every contour of his muscles brimming with strength.
But on Lucian, it seemed more like an awkward imitation. The casual style clashed with his
refined air, making him look out of place.
From the booth next door, Camelia’s voice rang out with admiration. “Lucian, I didn’t realize you could look so good in casual clothes.”
Lucian responded nonchalantly, “Rosalie’s taste is clearly impeccable. You should take notes from her. Why don’t you go through my wardrobe later and replace everything?”
Camelia’s smile faltered. With a pout, she said, “I’m barely getting by on my salary. Unlike Rosalie, I don’t have a father who spoils me and buys me whatever I want.”
Realizing his slip, Lucian quickly handed Camelia a black credit card. “Here, take this. Use it however you like.”
Rosalie kept her eyes on their booth, unaware of the dark cloud shadowing Julian’s face across
the table.
Before she could react, the menu was slid back in front of her.
Julian pointed to the very first item.
It was a 300–dollar baked lobster with black truffles.
Rosalie’s eyes widened in surprise.
That dish alone was probably worth a week of his groceries.
Noticing the irritation in his gaze, everything suddenly clicked.
“Alright,” she said, handing the menu to the waiter. “We’ll take this dish.”
She had promised to cover the cost. Whatever the price, she couldn’t back out now.
After ordering, the air around the table grew even more tense.
“Aren’t you going to say hello?” Julian finally spoke up.

Rosalie’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly averted her gaze, pretending to be unfazed.
“I don’t know them.”
Julian remained silent, his expression growing darker by the second.
Still, Rosalie’s words were loud enough to reach the booth next door.
Camelia and Lucian both stood up and made their way over.
“Rosalie, I didn’t know you were here too!” Camelia exclaimed. As her gaze landed on Julian, a flicker of admiration crossed her features. “And this is…?”
Lucian’s face darkened, his expression clouded with anger.
Though his eyes were locked on Rosalie, his cutting words were clearly intended for Julian. So, this is the so–called ‘husband‘ you hired just to get under my skin, huh?”

His eyes narrowed as he took in Julian’s appearance. “You’ve even gone so far as to copy my clothes. Are you that desperate to be my shadow?”
Julian didn’t flinch. Instead, a faint smile played on his lips.
He leaned back into the chair, the muscles in his arms flexing instinctively.
Meanwhile, Rosalie let out an incredulous laugh.
Meeting Lucian’s eyes, she said, “I bought this outfit for my husband. You’re the one who insisted on wearing it now. Or is your girlfriend’s sense of style so useless that she can only settle for what I no longer want?”
Camelia’s face turned pale as the words landed. She bit down on her lip, visibly hurt and aggrieved.
Lucian positioned himself in front of her, a shadow crossing his face.
“Rosalie, since I turned 18, every piece of clothing I’ve worn has been chosen by you. You even helped me pick out my boxers.
“The size you grabbed at the store that day happened to be mine. Isn’t this outfit just something you bought for me?”
Lucian glanced at Julian, who had remained silent the whole time.
“Now that I’ve caught you, you can’t even own up to it! Who would’ve thought you’d switch
the sizes of those clothes and hand them over to this freeloader!” Lucian snarled, deliberately emphasizing the last word.
Shooting a pointed look at Julian, he added, “Does he even know about this?”
Rosalie’s fists clenched tightly. She hadn’t expected Lucian to stoop this low.
She quickly turned to Julian and said, “Don’t listen to his lies. I bought those clothes specifically for you!”
Casting a fierce glare at Lucian, she snapped, “Are you out of your damn mind? You have a girlfriend, for crying out loud. Do you even think about how she feels when you spew such nonsense?”
With a dismissive snort, Lucian pulled the visibly shaken Camelia into his embrace.
“Thank God she’s not as petty as you. What’s the matter, Rosalie? Does the truth hurt? It’s obvious you can’t let me go. That’s why you found some random guy to fill the void. Your pathetic behavior only makes me hate you more.”
Rosalie’s blood boiled with anger.
She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her skin.
Just as she was about to fire back, the man who had been silent all this time finally spoke up.
