“Don’t tell me you let Xander’s looks deceive you. You’re not exactly in the best shape–standing out there in the cold wind is just asking for trouble. If you get sick, I’ll only end up more worried.”
“I know,” Alisa admitted.
She hated to admit it, but Megan had nailed it.
By the time she got home, the chill had settled in, and she started sneezing. The next day, her cold was in full swing.
When Vania heard, she was deeply concerned–and furious at Alisa’s driver.
“An umbrella? You made Ms. Alisa go out there herself? What exactly are we paying you for?”
The driver kept his head down. “Yes, Mrs. Roffe. I understand.”
Vania saw his contrition and said nothing more.
The downpour lasted for three whole days. Alisa stayed home, still fighting the cold, and passed the time by practicing calligraphy with Vania.
“My handwriting was taught by your grandfather,” Vania said. “Your mother learned from me. Now it’s my turn to teach you, hand to hand.”
While Alisa worked the brush, Vania’s gaze lingered on her face.
Maybe it was the hint of Belinda’s features she saw there, but her heart ached for the girl.
“Grandma, my writing’s not as good as Mom’s.”
“Keep practicing. I’ll be right here with you.”
Alisa looked up, meeting her grandmother’s eyes with a smile. “Alright.”
Vania took a sip of water before speaking again. “Lately, Darcy has been coming around the house quite a bit. What’s your take on their marriage?”
“Darcy’s got another woman on the side. That marriage won’t last,” Alisa said plainly. “I used to worry Cordelia was too deep in to pull herself out, but now I see she’s more clear–eyed than I thought. As long as she’s not heartbroken, that’s what matters. Love isn’t always the reason to marry–sometimes mutual benefit is good enough.
“But as her sister, I care about her happiness. I want her to leave him. Cordelia shouldn’t waste her time on a man like him.”
Vania nodded in agreement.
“I feel the same. Darcy doesn’t respect our family. He marries Cordelia and then fools around with other women? He needs a lesson.”
“Mmm.”
Vania reached over and took Alisa’s hand, her expression soft. “You’re the granddaughter I cherish most, and I’ll make sure your marriage is handled with care.”
Belinda was still the deepest wound in Vania’s heart.
She had never sent out Belinda’s dowry. One day, when Alisa married, she would inherit both hers and her mother’s–an unmatched dowry.
But marriage was the furthest thing from Alisa’s mind. Right now, her only focus was defeating Sabrina. Everything else

A week later, Ricky knocked on her office door, carrying a stack of photographs.
“These were taken by Tad and Andy at Cloudland Estate. Solid proof of Mr. Keller and Mrs. Green together.”
Alisa flipped through them, one by one.
“So this is what they call a late–life romance,” she mused. “They look quite happy.”
Ricky nodded. “Yes. If the Kellers hadn’t opposed it back then, Laurel would’ve married Martin.”
“If they had, we wouldn’t be here today,” Alisa said lightly.
“Even the most passionate first love turns into a nuisance. The most thrilling love eventually becomes nothing. People are strange–they always crave what they can’t have. Open relationships rarely match the thrill of something forbidden.”
Ricky stared at her in silence.
Alisa set the photos down. “Well, it works in our favor. Without them, my plan wouldn’t succeed.
“Go. I hear Sabrina’s been cozying up to Byron lately, even joining his biker club. Take these photos and give Mr. Keller a little wake–up call. No need for them to risk tarnishing his good name in his later years.”
Ricky inclined his head. “Understood.”
He collected the photos and asked out of curiosity, “Ms. Alisa, may I ask something?”
“Go ahead.”
“It seems like you’re gathering dirt on a lot of families, but the real target doesn’t seem to be them.”
“You’re right,” she said. “My real target is Sabrina.”
“But… why?”
Alisa smiled. Beneath her calm expression, there was a flicker of something wild–almost unhinged.
“No reason. But if you must have one…” She leaned forward slightly.
“It’s simply this: I want her gone. However it happens, I want her gone.”
Ricky froze, words caught in his throat.
Ricky froze, as if rooted to the spot, his throat tight, unable to force out a single word.
Was this fear or adıníration for Alisa’s brutal honesty?
No–what rose within him now was something else entirely,
A fierce, searing rush, like a disciple standing before the living embodiment of their faith, leaving him motionless, almost
reverent,
The third hidden identity Sabrina was about to lose? Sol–the legendary biker gang leader who had once made history Overseas.
