The way things were unfolding seemed quite different from the ‘melodrama‘ they had imagined. 

The smugness on Courtney’s face also froze. 

She never expected Sandria to be so direct, exposing everything in front of everyone! 

Lola finally snapped out of it, the grief on her face quickly fading, replaced by the shame and anger of being exposed. 

“You… what nonsense are you talking about!” 

She pointed at Sandria, trembling all over with rage. 

“When did I ever say it was about money! I’m your mother! I raised you all these years, and this is how you repay me? I… I’m ashamed of you! You bring shame to me!” 

She simply decided to go all out, waving the banner of morality even louder. 

“Sandria, I’m telling you, if you don’t repent and keep living shamelessly like this, then… then I’ll really act as if I nev- er had a daughter like you! We’ll never have anything to do with each other again!” 

Lola said this with tears streaming down her face, sounding righteous and indignant. 

She thought that this kind of retreating threat would at least make Sandria embarrassed and ashamed, making her eas- ier to control. 

But to her surprise, after hearing this, Sandria’s face didn’t show the slightest ripple. 

She even nodded lightly. 

“Alright. Perfect, why don’t you write the letter of severance you mentioned last time, right now.” 

As Sandria spoke, she turned to look at a waiter not far away, holding a tray, and waved him over. 

“Excuse me, could I have a pen and a piece of paper?” 

The waiter was momentarily stunned, but quickly recovered, nodded respectfully, and went to fetch them. 

Soon, the waiter returned with paper and pen. 

Sandria took them and handed them directly to Lola, her voice crisp and clear. 

“Go ahead and write.” 

Lola looked at the paper and pen in front of her, a hint of hesitation flashing in her eyes.

“Wasn’t it you who said so?” Sandria tilted her head, looking innocent. “You said if I didn’t repent, you’d cut ties with me. Well, I’m telling you now, I won’t change.” 

She paused, then added another sentence. 

“So, it’s your turn to keep your promise. Write it down in front of all these people, so you can’t go back on your word 

later.” 

Lola was forced into a corner, her old face turning bright red. 

“Fine, I’ll write it! From today on, I’ll act as if I never raised a daughter like you!” 

She had already figured it out: although Sandria said she’d give a million for cutting ties, she clearly didn’t have that much money! 

Besides, the person who came to see her yesterday offered even more! 

After writing this, she could squeeze as much as possible out of Sandria. 

Either way, she wouldn’t lose out. 

Lola finished writing, signed her name, and slapped the paper onto the table. 

“There! Satisfied now? And you promised to pay for my raising you, so it’s time to pay up!” 

Sandria picked up the still–warm paper, gently blew on the ink, folded it carefully, and put it into her handbag. 

After doing all this, she finally looked up, gazing at Lola in confusion. 

“Child support? What support?” 

Lola was stunned for a moment when she heard this, then her expression changed. “You said a million before!” 

“Oh?” Sandria feigned sudden realization. “But I remember you just said you were cutting ties with me because I em- barrassed you, out of principle, to save your family’s reputation?” 

She took a step forward, staring Lola down. 

“So, this letter of severance is really just a commodity for you to exchange for money? You’re using it to sell me? Then all that talk about doing it for my own good was a lie too?” 

Sandria’s voice wasn’t loud, but every word was clear and cut to the heart. 

Lola’s mind went blank with a buzzing sound.
