Chapter45
Sandria raised an eyebrow, her red lips curving into a smile, but before she could speak-
Florentino couldn’t hold back any longer. He rushed forward, his words cold and harsh.
“Sandria, are you drunk? What nonsense are you spouting here! With your status, it’s already a stroke of luck for you to be here, and yet you dare to provoke Ms. Ritter to her face? Apologize to Ms. Ritter at once and leave!”
Every word he spoke belittled her, reminding her of her lowly status.
Sandria looked at his self–righteous face and could only find it laughable.
She was about to speak when a sudden commotion erupted at the entrance of the banquet hall.
A plainly dressed, out–of–place middle–aged woman was anxiously pushing her way inside, calling out.
“Sandy! My daughter! Where are you?”
When Courtney saw the newcomer, a glint of satisfaction flashed in her eyes–her plan had finally come to fruition. The show she had orchestrated was now in full swing.
The newcomer was none other than Sandria’s adoptive mother, Lola.
Lola spotted the dazzlingly dressed Sandria in the crowd at once, rushed over, grabbed her hand, and burst into tears.
“My good daughter, Mom finally found you!”
“Why did you come to a place like this? Is it because of the family’s debts that you…”
She deliberately paused before finishing, casting a look of grief and embarrassment at Sandria’s glamorous gown.
“Child, how could you be so foolish! No matter how poor we are, you can’t do something like this! How can I show my face now!”
Lola’s tearful outburst was loaded with meaning.
The guests around them immediately looked at Sandria with contempt and disdain.
“To pay off debts? Doing something like this?”
“So she’s a gold digger after all.”
“Pretty enough, but who would’ve thought she’d be so shameless. Still, a woman like that–pay her and you can have your fun. Not bad.”
Florentino’s face burned even hotter at these words.

He felt that Sandria had utterly disgraced him for life!
His brow furrowed with irritation and disgust.
If he’d known it would come to this, he never should have given her that invitation!
Meanwhile, Courtney walked over to Lola with an air of innocence, gently supporting her and offering soft comfort.
“Auntie, please don’t worry. Maybe Ms. Farley just came here to talk business, not for anything else. You mustn’t let your imagination run wild.”
Her gentle demeanor only made Sandria look even more disgraceful by comparison.
In that moment, everyone stood on the opposite side of Sandria.
Carolina watched coldly, Florentino’s face was full of disgust, Courtney was secretly pleased, Lola wailed, and the crowd was abuzz with gossip.
She had become the most pitiful clown in this farce.
Sandria lowered her eyes, her long lashes casting a shadow beneath them.
She looked at Lola’s face, which was filled with ‘worry‘ and ‘pain,‘ and also saw, behind her, Courtney’s barely con- cealed, triumphant smile.
Well, this saves her the trouble of dealing with them one by one.
Sandria slowly raised her head, shook off Lola’s hand, and spoke in a voice that wasn’t loud, yet it exploded like a thunderclap in the noisy hall.
“What kind of thing? Do you mean sucking me dry, squeezing out my last bit of value to buy a house and a wife for that useless brother of mine?”
“Or are you talking about how you agreed to cut ties with me if I gave you a million?”
Sandria’s voice wasn’t loud, but it was like a boulder thrown into the bustling banquet hall, instantly stirring up waves.
Lola’s sobs stopped abruptly, as if someone had grabbed her by the throat.
Her face, which had been full of grief, was now twisted in shock, her whole body frozen in place, looking like a ridiculous statue.
Regret?
Cutting ties?
A million?
These words, strung together, left the onlooking guests a bit confused.
