Falling 4

Early in the morning, she got up, washed up, had some milk, and went downstairs to the garage. The three luxury cars Ashlan had prepared for her came into her view, and she picked a relatively understated one and drove to the Burn- ham Group. 

She already held three software patents when she graduated. Back then, a top–notch research team was amazed by her talents and invited her to be part of them. 

But if she signed the contract with them, she had to work confidentially in the base overseas for at least two years with absolutely no outside contact. 

Florentino said he couldn’t live without her and didn’t allow her to go, so she could only turn down the offer. 

Since he claimed he hated women who sought attention, she kept their marriage a secret. 

Other than a few friends of his, no one else knew they were a couple. 

Then he arranged for her to be a print model working at the Burnham Group’s Publicity Department. 

She had no connections, and everyone here thought of her as a slut who slept her way up. 

Florentino enjoyed such a relationship, so she never explained it to anyone. 

She was so wrong, thinking her love for him could change him eventually. And the price was so heavy–this terrible mistake cost eight years of her life. 

Just as she stepped into the office, she saw Florentino tenderly wrapping his arm around a gentle–looking woman. 

He introduced her to everyone, “Guys, this is Courtney Mosley, my fiancee. I want all of you to meet her.” 

She glanced over, and her gaze happened to fall upon the dark circles under his eyes and the faint marks on his wrists. 

Last night must have been arduous for him. 

The cheerful laughter abruptly stopped when everyone saw Sandria. 

Then the atmosphere became extremely odd. 

All her colleagues shot malicious, disdainful glances at her. 

She was undeniably pretty, and her curves were simply breathtaking. 

Because of her relationship with Florentino, they all looked down on her. 

Now that he had officially announced his engagement, they all waited for her to make a fool of herself. 

She walked forward, wriggling her slender wrist.

Chapter 4

“Morning, Mr. Burnham. Is this your fiancee?” 

At the sight of her, Florentino frowned, and his expression darkened. Ignoring her, he went to his office while holding Courtney’s hand. 

The moment they were gone, someone eagerly mocked, “Some bitches just can’t stop hitting on men at all. 

“Is she still fantasizing about becoming Mr. Burnham? Gee, exactly how delusional is she?” 

The rest snickered under their breaths. 

Meanwhile, Sandria gracefully put her handbag on the chair. The exquisite makeup on her beautiful face, paired with the fitted dress clinging to her killer body, radiated vitality and confidence. 

“Gosh, the jealousy in the air is thick enough to make my eyes water. Some people aren’t as pretty or sexy as me, and even if they stripped themselves naked, no man would be interested in them at all. Honestly, after these few years, I’m already so fed up with him.” 

Her colleagues didn’t know how to retort, closing their mouths, sulking. 

She turned around to sit down. Looking up, she happened to see Florentino standing in the hallway with a cup of cof- fee, his face grim. 

Apparently, he had heard everything. 

She curved her lips into a provocative smile. 

Yet a sharp pain pricked at her heart. 

She had brewed him coffee for eight years, measuring every bean to his taste. Yet he had never thanked her. 

And now, here he was, brewing coffee for another woman. 

How ironic. 

She wanted to resign, but the sight of them as a loving couple changed her mind. 

She wouldn’t take this lying down and leave so quietly–not without a grand exit. 

Near the end of the workday, the department head sent a group message.
