He didn’t say anything more, just stood quietly behind her, his tall figure like a silent yet unbreakable mountain.
After receiving a call from the police confirming her report, Sandria finally turned around, lifted her chin, and a sparkle reignited in her beautiful fox–like eyes, carrying a hint of deliberately feigned ease.
“I’m not the one who did anything wrong. My relationship with him was perfectly normal–what is there to be ashamed of?”
No matter how wild she looked in those photos, it was all because she loved him.
The one who should be nailed to the pillar of shame is the man who used their past love as a weapon.
A flicker of interest seemed to flash in Fulbert’s eyes.
Sandria thought he would make a teasing remark, but unexpectedly, he only uttered a few words.
“You did the right thing.”
His voice was low and powerful, the kind that meant he was serious.
Suddenly, Sandria felt that perhaps working with this man wasn’t such a bad idea after all.
Just then, her phone started vibrating wildly again.
The caller ID showed it was still that new number from Florentino.
Sandria answered the call on speaker.
As soon as the call connected, Florentino’s furious, almost feral roar blasted through the receiver.
“Sandria, are you crazy? Explain to the police right now–tell them we just had a lovers‘ quarrel and withdraw your re- port!”
Sandria’s red lips curled into a mocking arc, but her voice was so sweet it could drip honey.
“Lovers? Mr. Burnham, you really shouldn’t say things like that so carelessly. Have you forgotten you still have a fi- ancee named Mosley? If she heard this, how heartbroken would she be?”
“But since Mr. Burnham is so eager to be my lover, why don’t I just announce it to the world right now? Let everyone know how the CEO of the Burnham Group is preparing to marry the niece of the Schroeder Group, while still pester- ing his ex–wife.”
“You-!” Florentino was so choked by her words that he couldn’t utter a single sentence, only heavy, ragged breathing came through.

“What about me?” The smile vanished from Sandria’s face, her voice turning cold in an instant.
“Florentino, I have already reported to the police that you threatened and intimidated me with private photos. I am re- questing that the police supervise you in deleting all photos, videos, and any cloud backups from your computer and phone.”
“If I ever see even a trace of related content on any online platform, or if I am threatened in any way again, my lawyer will immediately sue you for the crimes of distributing obscene materials and extortion.”
“See you in court, then.”
With that, she didn’t give him any chance to speak, and decisively hung up the phone.
The whole process was smooth and unhesitating, not the slightest bit muddled.
Fulbert, standing to the side, looked at her with even greater admiration in his eyes.
“Well done.”
But Sandria was in no mood for jokes at the moment. She picked up her laptop and stood up to leave. “Thank you for today. I want to be alone for a while.”
Fulbert seemed to understand that she needed space to process her emotions, and nodded.
“Call me if you need anything.”
Back in her own room, Sandria collapsed into the soft sofa as if all her strength had left her, but the sick feeling in her chest just wouldn’t go away.
She took out her phone and opened that long–dormant Twitter account, visible only to a handful of close friends.
Inside were records of every little moment from her eight years with Florentino.
Every time she had felt her heart flutter, every sweet moment, every self–deluded happiness–now, looking back, they all felt like resounding slaps across her face.
Meanwhile, Florentino’s Twitter profile was as spotless as a blank sheet of paper–nothing but work, and the occasion- al post about golf or racing to show off his status.
