She couldn’t wait for the day when Florentino finally realized that the priceless treasure he had cherished so carefully was, in fact, nothing special at all… 

She wondered what kind of spectacular expression would appear on his face then. 

Sandria unlocked the door with her fingerprint, only for the door across from her to suddenly swing open. 

A faint, warm aroma of food drifted over, instantly dispelling all her exhaustion and the chill clinging to her body. 

Fulbert was standing at the doorway. 

On that handsome, cold face of his, there was, miraculously, a hint of gentle domesticity. 

“You’re back… Would you like to have dinner together…?” 

But before he could finish, his deep gaze landed on the glaring white bandage wrapped around her arm, and his attrac- tive brows instantly furrowed into a sharp crease. 

“What happened?” 

His voice was low, carrying an undeniable sense of authority. 

“I was careless on the way and bumped into something.” 

Sandria brushed it off lightly. 

But Fulbert was clearly not so easily fooled. 

He strode over to her with his long legs. 

Standing in front of her, his tall figure loomed over, exuding a reassuring presence. 

He raised his hand, his slender, well–defined fingers gently touching the rough edge of the bandage, his movements so careful it was as if he were handling a fragile treasure that would shatter at the slightest touch. 

“You went to see Florentino? Did he do this?” 

Sandria said nothing. The man narrowed his eyes slightly and continued. 

“You… wouldn’t want me to investigate this myself, would you? After all, getting hurt like this really affects our co- operation.” 

Seeing his relentless determination to get to the bottom of things, Sandria pressed her lips together and told him ev- erything that had just happened.

After listening, Fulbert’s eyes darkened. “Come in first, let’s eat.” 

This apartment was similar in layout to hers, except Fulbert’s place felt even colder and more austere in its decor. 

Sitting at the table, he ladled her a bowl of soup and spoke slowly.

“The Mosley family of Eaveton and the Schroeder family of Glottenham are related, but Courtney is not the Mosleys‘ biological daughter. Thirteen years ago, they adopted her from an orphanage in Eaveton.” 

Sandria raised an eyebrow. 

An adopted daughter? 

An adopted daughter with no power or influence, yet she managed to thrive in the complicated Mosley family. 

Her skills were truly extraordinary. 

Fulbert looked at her small, delicate face, lost in thought, and suddenly leaned in a little closer. 

The crisp, pleasant scent of wood on him, mixed with the warmth of food, invaded her senses with a kind of domi- neering intimacy. 

“There might be quite a show coming up.” 

His voice was low and magnetic, like the strings of a cello, gently plucking at her heart. 

“When Florentino finds out that the Mosley family he’s been scheming so hard to attach himself to is actually just a distant relative of the Schroeder family…” 

“And that the fiancee he treasures so much is just an adopted daughter… Tell me, do you think he’ll be so furious he’ll cough up blood on the spot?” 

Sandria was amused by his wickedly accurate description. 

The gloom of the past days seemed to be dispelled quite a bit in that moment. 

And that’s not all–when the time comes, he’ll also discover that the woman he discarded like trash is actually the true heiress of the Schroeder family! 

A new flame of “interest” ignited in Sandria’s beautiful fox–like eyes, sly and captivating. 

“As you say, I’m definitely looking forward to it.” 

For the next two days, Sandria put all those upsetting matters out of her mind and threw herself completely into the important project at hand. 

That day, her internet at home went out, so she took her laptop to Fulbert’s place to run the final stress test on the last module.
