Chapter 6
The crowd exploded.
“See? I told you she was a spoiled brat!”
“Poor Stella! Has to manage a whole company and deal with this princess!”
“Both families are loaded, so why’s Stella so sweet while Evelyn acts like a spoiled brat?”
I stared at Desmond in shock.
I’d started coming to the office with Dad at six, right after Mom died.
Desmond used to be a junior clerk, when we went public, Dad handed him shares out of gratitude. Now he’s a big–shot shareholder, and this is how he repays us?
“Desmond, what exactly do you mean?”
“You’ll regret this! My dad will hear about everything!”
Desmond played the victim.
“You’ve been threatening us since you were a child!”
“Anyone who displeases you, you go crying to your father! You’ve driven good people away!”
“Stella was just trying to stand up for us, and you slapped her!”
“It’s all on the security cameras, officer!”
He’s lying! But why?
Didn’t they realize opposing me was suicide?
Just then, executives emerged from the elevators.
Mostly shareholders who’d watched me grow up.
I lunged toward them.
“Jordan! Vivian! Help me! Desmond is lying!”

Chapter 6
“Desmond’s framing me for driving out employees! You’ve known me since childhood, when have I
ever harmed this company?!”
Jordan was Dad’s distant cousin.
When he showed up destitute years ago, Dad gave him a job without hesitation. Now he was VP
thanks to Dad.
And had just toasted my college admission at our family party last month.
Jordan just frowned. “Evelyn, that’s enough. I let it slide when you were a child, but this is a
disgrace.”
Vivian shook her head. “If I had a daughter like you, I’d disown her!”
“We only tolerate you because of your father! You’re hurting the company!”
I was too stunned to speak.
Videos of me were already all over social media.
A news alert popped up on someone’s phone:
[Kael Corp Heiress Causes Public Disturbance; Stock Plummets]
[Kael Corp Stock Hits Limit Down]
The shareholders glared at me.
“You keep this up, and it won’t just be the stock price.”
“What do you think your father will say when he finds out you destroyed his company?”
To stop the PR disaster, I had to back down.
The police took our statements and let us go.
When I got back to my dorm, what I saw frozen me.
