May was busy working on her laptop when a lady walked up to her.
“Excuse me?” She said softly, causing May to turn her attention to her.
“You’re May right?” She asked. May nodded.
“The boss will like to see you in his office.”
May frowned a little on hearing that. “The boss?” She repeated.
“Yes. Mr Adams Carter.”
“Adams!” May unknowingly blurted out, but she instantly used her hand to cover her mouth briefly. “I’m sorry, hope there’s no problem.” She said in a whisper.
“I guess you wouldn’t know until you go see him yourself, please come with me.” The lady then walked away, not sparing her the chance to ask anymore questions.
“Why in the world is Adams asking to see me!?” May mentally screamed as she hurriedly went after the lady.
When they finally arrived at Adams office, May was reluctant to go in at first, but the lady urged her to go in since one thing Adams hate is to be kept waiting.
She braced herself up before placing a knock on the door, a few seconds later she was ushered in.
When she went in, Adams chair was turned backwards, but he soon turned around to face her. May couldn’t even tell if she was nervous or not with the way he was staring at her.
“You sent for me Sir.” She said, and she nearly did a happy dance, feeling grateful her voice didn’t tremble or anything.
“I remember you, Alicia’s best friend.” Adams said, then he stood up and walked to stand in front of her, but he gave them a reasonable distance.
“I’m not going to beat around the bush, I know you and Alicia must have a great bond and I…” He trailed. “I need your help to help me get back with Alicia.” He said. May instantly scoffed.
“Excuse me? My help you say?” She clicked her tongue. “I get we’re at work and I should definitely give you that respect as my boss, but now it’s a different case and I don’t care if we’re at work or not, but I’m going to speak how I want now.”
“Do you really think I would betray Alicia by helping her get back to the same person who caused her so much pain? Do you think I would help her get back with the same man who couldn’t even stand up for her and joined his parents in making her life a living hell, I know of everything you and your family did to Alicia and you have no idea how much I hate you and want to so badly hit you right now!” May spat. “I don’t care if you’re going to eventually fire me, in fact you can go ahead and do so if you want, I wouldn’t care less and neither would I give a fuck!”
“I’m never going to help you get together with Alicia because after everything she’s been through, she deserves nothing but the best, she deserves someone better, not Mama’s boy or someone who does everything his parents asks him to do.” She fumed. ” Do you even have any idea how life was for her before she finally managed to get back on her feet!? Do you even know that she had to sleep on the streets at some point because things got too difficult for her, and what’s worse is that she had to eat people’s trash food too! You have absolutely no idea what she’s been through after your divorce and after she left this country.”
“If you think that I’ll be so damn stupid to help you in anyway then you’ve got to be kidding me Adams. Or should I say Mr Adams Carter.” She scoffed. “Please don’t ever call me for something like this again, if it isn’t work related then I’m out!”
May made to leave but Adams hurriedly held her hand. “I’m sorry! I had no idea of the things she had to go through because of me, I accept everything, I was foolish to have let go of her instead of standing by her side, I was driven by my urgent need for a
child and…”

“Your parents constant pressure.” May completed.
“I’m sorry May, I’m really sorry so please just help me out here, belleve me when I say that I truly regret everything that I did, I regret every single one of it, the greatest mistake I made in my life was divorcing Alicia and letting go of her, I’m really sorry May so please help me out there, I’m willing to do anything at all, anything to gain not just your trust but also the trust of Alicia and my baby.” He said, saying the last part in a whisper.
May jerked her hand away from his hold. “Don’t bother Adams, it’s useless to try, and the one you should be saying all this to is Alicia and not me, but I doubt she’s even going to listen to you. Alicia wants nothing to do with you and I’m strongly behind her in whatever discision she takes, don’t try to stop me because I’m done having this conversation with you.” She warned, then she walked away, but when she got to the door, she turned to him once again.
“And one more thing, don’t ever call my Diane yours…because she isn’t yours!” She said with gritted teeth, she stared at him for a few seconds, her eyes holding nothing but anger and hate, then she left.
Adams balled his fist in rage, he felt the strong urge to just break something at that moment, he grabbed the flower vase lying on his table and threw it against the wall, causing it to smash into tiny pieces.
Meanwhile, his secretary who heard the noise hurriedly rushed inside and she gasp in shock on the scene in front of her, she’s never seen Adams this angry before.
“S…Sir.” She stuttered, her whole body trembling.
“Get out!” Adams barked.
She flinched in fear, then she scurried out of his office.
