Chapter 31 

“What!?” Bianca half yelled as she stood up from her bed. “What do you mean you failed to get the job done?” She questioned, pacing around her room. 

She was on a call with Eric and she couldn’t believe what she’s hearing. 

“I gave you a simple task Eric, just one little task and you failed, how’s it so hard huh!? just beat up the jerk and leave him somewhere no one will easily locate him. I was expecting you to call with some good news but I’m only hearing rubbish!” 

“I’m sorry boss, just give me another chance to redeem myself and I promise I won’t fail you again.” Eric pleaded. 

Bianca scoffed loudly. “You know Eric, this is the very first time you’re failing me and I ought to have you punished in some kind of way for this, but I won’t do that. I’m giving you a second chance to redeem yourself, and this time….you better not fail me or I’ll have someone coming for you instead!” She then hung up before he had the chance to say anything else. 

Bianca stared at the phone in her hand, her eyes blazing with fury and her breathing coming out rapidly, she was literally seething with anger and she felt she might explode if she doesn’t do something to ease the anger. 

She angrily threw her phone against the wall, she grabbed a flower vase and threw that too, then she screamed out loudly. 

“That bastard!” She cursed, still seething with 

rage.

Mike arrived at the company in the new Lamborghini car Adams got him, he was extremely shocked when he woke up this morning and saw the car outside, he really wasn’t expecting Adams to get him a new car so fast, and it was actually in his favorite color too, black! Sadly, he didn’t get the chance to thank Adams since he left before he even woke up, the whole ordeal last night had him so tired that he literally slept for quite a while. Despite having Adams permission that he could take a few days off work, Mike wouldn’t listen and still came to work today. 

The moment he stepped out of the car, he saw May walking into the company with a man he doesn’t recognize, but what bugged him the most was the way she was smiling, her smile was so huge and bright that he wondered if her mouth didn’t hurt from smiling so much. 

A huge frown appeared on his face as he watched the both of them, she’s never smiled at him like that before and yet she had the guts to smile at someone else in such a way. As he continued to watch them, his blood could only boil with jealousy the longer he stared at them, he’s actually supposed to mind his business but he just couldn’t bring himself to do it. 

He hurriedly locked his car and ran after them, luckily, he was able to catch them before the elevator could close. 

“Mike?” May called in surprise when he stepped into the elevator. 

Mike looked at May, then he glared at the man standing beside her, he scoffed before forcefully putting himself in the middle of 

them. 

May was surprised by this, she frowned as she stared at him, she was tempted to say something but she decides to ignore him, meanwhile, the other man could only smile, he then adjusted a little bit more to give Mike some more room. 

None said anything to each other, soon the elevator arrived at May’s floor, the man got out first but before May could get out, Mike hurriedly held her hand and pulled her back and punched in the last floor. 

“What the hell are you doing!? Let me go!” May yelled, but it was too late as the elevator already closed. 

“Who’s that?” Mike questioned. 

“Who’s who? What are you talking about?” May replied, still trying to free her hand from his hold. 

“The ugly guy that was in here with us, I saw how you were smiling at him so I would like to know who he is. You’ve never even

smiled at me like that before, rather all I get from you is nothing but your frowny face.” He said, muttering the last part so she wouldn’t hear him. 

May was stunned by his audacity. “So you stoped me from going to work because of this stupid question!” She fumed. “And what’s it to you huh? What’s it to you if I smile at someone else!? You men really love to have control all the time isn’t it, well let me tell you something, I’m not your paupet or someone you can just order around, I won’t stoop so low and be used like that ever again, I won’t let you control me like I’m a dummy!” She yelled, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. 

Mike was dumbfounded by her words, he wasn’t expecting her to take this that far and it suddenly felt like she wasn’t referring to him at this moment but to something else. 

“May I-” 

“Just shut up!” She yelled, then she jerked her hand away from his. “I want you to stay the hell away from me do you understand, I never want to see you close me ever again, just keep your distance!” She sharply turned around just so he wouldn’t see her tears. 

“May I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way and I didn’t think my actions would hurt you this much, I’m really sorry so please forgive me.” Mike apologized but May paid deaf ears to his pleas. 

“May I…” He placed his hand on her shoulders but she instantly shrugged him off. 

“Don’t even dare to touch me Mike.” She warned, her back still turned to him. 

Finally, the elevator opened and May hurriedly got out, she walked to the next elevator and opened it, then she got in. Mike went after her, he wanted to get in with her but she warned him not to otherwise she would get off and use the stairs instead. Mike had no choice but to step back, he could only look at her as the elevator slowly closed shut, but May avoided his gaze. When the elevator finally closed, Mike took off his sunglasses which he had used to hide his black eye, he’s never felt this bad about himself before, he truly didn’t think things would turn out this way but they did. 

“Damn it!!”
