Chapter 30
Adams was about going to bed when an urgent knock came on his door, he groaned as he went to check who it was, on opening his door, he saw it was his butler.
“Yes Jeff, what’s wrong?”
“I… It’s Sir Mike, please come with me Sir.” Jeff panicked.
“What?” Adams muttered as he rushed out of his room and went downstairs.
When Adams arrived in the living room, he met Mike lying on one of the chairs, groaning in pain.
“Mike.” He called as he rushed to him.
Adams frowned when he saw the bruises on his body, his face was a bit swollen and bruised too. “What the hell happened to you? “He bent down to check him.
“I was attacked by two men.” Mike managed to say.
“What!? What do you mean you were attacked? Why would anyone want to attack you!?”
“How would I know that? You’ve got a first aid kit? I really need help.”
“Then you should have gone to the hospital Mike, you need to be properly treated.”
“You think I didn’t think of that, I couldn’t help but think what would happen if those people come back, I’m not in a good condition to fight with anyone at the moment.”
Adams sighed deeply, then he turned to his butler. “Get the first aid kit butler Jeff.” He ordered, and the butler hurriedly went to get the first aid kit.
“Here, let me help you up.” He gave his hand to Mike and slowly helped him to sit up.
The look on Adams face clearly shows he doesn’t like the condition Mike’s in at the moment.
“Who on earth could have done this!? We’ll need to report this matter to the police as soon as possible, I want those men found and brought to book, maybe we can also find out who put them up to this.”
Mike nodded in reply. “I’m going to do that, but first I need to get treated and I would appreciate some pain killers and maybe a sleeping pill too, I don’t think I would naturally be able to get a good sleep like this.”
“How did this even happen?” Adams questioned as he took a sit beside him.
Butler Jeff returned with the first aid kit and kept it on the table in front of them.
“Thank you butler Jeff, that’ll be all for now.”
The butler bowed before leaving.
“Take off your shirt.” Adams said as he opened the first aid kit.
Taking off his shirt was a real hassle due to the pain that accompanied him when he tried doing that, but despite the pain he felt, he managed to take his shirt off.
“Those damn jerks! I wished I had killed them, but then I don’t want to soil my hands with their blood.” Mike said with gritted teeth.
“Explain in details what happened.” Adams replied as he began tending to Mike’s bruises.
Mike couldn’t stop wincing in pain as he explained in details what happened to him.

“They even destroyed my precious car!” He raged.
“I’m glad you were able to get out of that alive Mike, but I don’t know how the police will be able to help in this case since you didn’t get to see their faces.”
“Either way, I’m still going to file a report.”
“Wouldn’t it be nice to also have someone guard you for the meantime?” Adams asked.
Mike shook his head. “I’ll be fine, I’m not weak either, I’m just pissed about my car, how I love that car!” He hissed in pain as Adams applied touched one of his bruise.
“Sorry, you shouldn’t worry about your car, just tell me the model and I’ll get you a new one.”
On hearing Adams words, Mike turned around with a great speed. “W…what?” He asked to be sure he heard Adams words correctly.
“Y…you’re not kidding right? Hope you’re not playing with me Adams, I swear I’ll kill you if all this is a joke.”
Adams scoffed. “I’m serious.” He replied, then he kept the things he had used to treat Mike back in the first aid kit.
Mike forgot about the pain he was in and hugged Adams tightly. “I really can’t believe this Adams, thank you so much my dear best friend, thank you so so much.” He said with so much joy.
“That’s too much hugging Mike, get off me before you choke me to death!” Adams tried pushing him off but Mike refused to let go, rather he hugged him even more tighter.
“You have no idea how much this means to me, thank you so much Adams.”
“You’re rich Mike.” Adams replied in a bored tone.
“But I’m not using my money, you have no idea the joy that comes in knowing someone is helping you get something you truly desire to have, and besides, you’re richer than me, my wealth can never amount to yours. You’re a freaking billionaire! How did I ever get so lucky Adams, I’m truly lucky to have you as my best buddy.”
Adams sighed deeply. “I’m just doing this because I owe you, so get off me.” Adams tried pushing him off once more, but Mike still refused to let him go.
“If you don’t let go off me then I think I’ll have to reconsider doing what I said.” He threatened and that did the trick as Mike instantly let go of him.
Deep down, Adams enjoyed being hugged by his best friend but he’s never going to let Mike know about that.
Meanwhile, Mike wouldn’t stop looking at Adams with so much love and admiration in his eyes.
“You’re weird!” Adams instantly stood up and threw the pain killers at him, he then picked up the first aid kit. “Make yourself at home, you’re not a guest here so I’m sure you know you can stay in any of the rooms, first thing tomorrow we’ll head over to the station so go get some rest.” He said and Mike nodded obediently, a bright smile plastered on his lips, and his eyes shinning with so much love and appreciation.
Adams rolled his eyes at him. “I’m going to bed.” He said before walking away.
“I love you Adams, I love you so much!” Mike yelled at the top of his voice.
His words made Adams smile, but he didn’t turn to look at him. “You’re crazy Mike, you’re really crazy.” He muttered.
