Chapter 26Â
“Are you okay Alicia?” Daniel asked, he’s Alicia’s publisher as well as the bead of Golden publishing. He had noticed the change in Alicia’s countenance when she came in and he was surprised because he’d expected her to be all smiles and happy after her discussion with Ashton Kutcher who had once worked on a script with her before and is willing to sign another contract with her again.Â
“Yes Daniel, I’m fine, why do you ask?”Â
“Because you clearly look upset, did Ashton do or say anything upsetting to you?”Â
“Of course not.” Alicia hurriedly replied. “You know too well that Mr Ashton is a good man, and don’t mind me, I’m just tired so tired since it’s been quite a long day.”Â
Daniel nodded in understanding. “True, since the meeting with Ashton is over and it turned out to be successful, you can go home now Alicia, go home and get some rest because you need it.”Â
Alicia checked her wrist watch, then she sighed. “I was hoping to pass time at the company as I wait until it’s time to go pick Diane up from school, but since there’s still a few hours left until she closes, I’ll just go home and rest.”Â
“Well don’t forget to set an alarm so you don’t sleep off.” Daniel playfully replied.Â
“Noted.” Alicia replied with a smile, she grabbed her purse from the table then she went over to give Daniel a kiss on his cheek and thanked him for being the best publisher ever before she left.Â
Adams who’s been at alert and was still waiting for Alicia was so lucky to see her walk out of the company, he immediately came out of his car and ran towards her.Â
When Alicia saw him coming to her, she mentally screamed in frustration and she sharply turned around to go back inside but she was too late as Adams quickly got to her and held her hand just before she could leave.Â
“Alicia please don’t leave.” Adams pleaded, still holding her hand.Â
Alicia shut her eyes briefly as she prepared herself for whatever’s about to happen, then she roughly jerked her hand away from his and turned to face him, her eyes blazing with fury as she hatefully glared at him.Â
“What the hell is your fucking problem Adams! Just why won’t you stay away from me huh? How many times are you going to keep showing your face to me knowing too well that I don’t give a shit about you nor want to see you anywhere at all!” She angrily yelled at him.Â
“I don’t care if you don’t want to see me Alicia, but I want to see you and I’m truly sorry about what happened earlier, I swear to God that I have nothing to do with that lady, I don’t know why she did that but I promise there’s nothing going on between us so please don’t get things wrong.”Â
At first Alicia looked at him like he’s gone crazy, then she scoffed. “Sorry? You’ve got to be kidding me Adams, why the hell are you even apologizing? You can go ahead and kiss a thousand ladies or a thousand ladies can kiss you, do you really think I would still give a shit?” She laughed. “Just in case you still need me to spell this out to you, we’re divorced! Di–Vorced! So don’t get it twisted in your head thinking I cared about your little display of affection with that lady you came here with, and by the way, why are you even here, did you come over to show off your new bride or what? Well congratulations on that one, you’ve done what you came here for so please leave me alone, I’ve got more important things to deal with.”Â
“She’s not my bride Alicia, there’s nothing going on between us I promise, so please don’t call her my bride.‘Â
Alicia rolled her eyes hard at him. “Whatever you say, who cares what she is to you anyway, just get lost Adams, I’m done talking to you, I don’t want to waste my precious time standing here with you.” She made to leave but Adams grabbed her hand once more, stopping her from leaving.Â
“Please hear me out Alicia, I actually came here to apologize for whatever my mother must have said to you, she told me that she came to see you and I-”Â

“Great!” Alicia said as she jerked her hand away once more. “You can keep your apology to yourself Adams, I don’t need it, and 1 do hope your mother did pass iny message to you because it seems to me like she didn’t.“.Â
“What?” Adams questioned in confusion.Â
“First, I’m going to start by saying that I would appreciate it if you keep my daughter’s name off your lips and stop telling people that my own daughter belongs to you because you’re not Alicia’s father and you can’t just show up from nowhere claiming to be my child’s father because she isn’t yours, if you’re so desperate to get a child of your own then go out there and find someone to carry your child and leave mine alone!” She warned.Â
“If there’s one thing you must know, I don’t joke with my daughter, so don’t mess with me Adams, I’m seriously warning you this time. Secondly, this will be the last time I’m going to say this and I swear to God I won’t repeat this again, stop coming to see me and following me like some lost puppy or I will be forced to report your act to the authorities and tell them that you’re harassing me and you’re a threat to not just me but also my daughter!”Â
“What!” Adams exclaimed in disbelief.Â
“You heard me well Adams, so stay the hell away from me and don’t try to hold me back this time or I’m really going to slap you. “She glared at him once more before angrily walking to her car. Adams didn’t dare stop her this time, he simply watched her leave.Â
Despite her warning about reporting him to the authorities, Adams wasn’t going to stop trying to get her back, he certainly won’t stop pursuing her and that’s for sure.Â
