“H. how did…” Alicia trailed off, she doesn’t even know what to say.
The look on Mrs Bridget face clearly shows she knows what she’s here for and this isn’t a coincidence or whatever, but Alicia
couldn’t even tell how Mrs Bridget knew she was in town and how to even find her.
As she kept on staring at her, memories of the past came flooding in, how Mrs Bridget would insult her and humiliate her with every single opportunity she gets, everything she’s been made to go through at her hands came rushing to her, filling her with the same pain she’s tried so hard to get over.
A lone tear slipped down her cheeks but she quickly wiped it off, she did promise herself that she’s never going to shed a single tear for the Carter family and she’s not going to break that promise now, she’s no longer the old Alicia that was so full of fear and let herself to be insulted and used like a rag all for the sake of nothing! She’s grown and she’s obviously changed, this time she won’t give anyone the opportunity to trample upon her like she’s nothing, if Mrs Bridget dares to do what she did to her in the past, then she’s going to forget everything about respecting her elders and stand up for herself, putting her in her place.
“Mommy?” Diane called softly.
Alicia took off her seat belt then she turned to Diane. “Stay right in the car baby, I’ll be back soon, make sure you don’t come out of the car do you hear me?”
“What’s wrong mommy? Who’s that lady over there?” Diane asked.
“Nothing is wrong Diane and she’s no
just listen to me and stay right here okay?” She pleaded.
“Okay mommy.” Diane nodded.
Alicia smiled. “I’ll be back soon.” She said before getting out of her car.
When she finally came face to face with Mrs Bridget, Mrs Bridget was surprised to see the huge change in her, even though she doesn’t like Alicia, she can’t deny the obvious change in her appearance and everything else, she needs no one to tell her that this Alicia was so different from the Alicia she had as a daughter in law, but still, that won’t stop her from doing what she came here to do.
“You almost caused an accident Mrs Bridget.” Alicia folded her hands across her chest. “I think you should get a new driver or this one will end up putting you behind bars.”
Mrs Bridget narrowed her eyes at her. “Look who’s suddenly grown new wings and a voice to speak too.” Mrs Bridget fired
back.
Alicia scoffed. “This wings are better, bigger and stronger Mrs Bridget, I didn’t expect to meet you in such a way.”
“Oh don’t be surprised, Adams told us that you’ve come back and this time you returned with a child he claims to be his.” She raised her brow in a questioning manner.
“That damn man“” Alicia mentally cursed, she should have known it was Adams, what she didn’t expect is for him to tell his parents about Diane and even tell that that she belongs to him! Hearing this from Mrs Bridget made her rethink her decision about getting that restraining order on him, she wants him even more away from her and her daughter now.
“But don’t worry, even if you have a child I’m so sure that child doesn’t belong to my son, after all, how can the barren suddenly turn fruitful, I’m 100% sure you must have adopt that child for yourself and the person you must be with now.”
Alicia balled her fist in annoyance.
Since I’m not here to exchange words with you, I’m going to go straight to the point Alicia.”
“When you and Adams got divorced, he was supposed to get married again a month after, but something about you made my son cancel his wedding!”

Alicia was shocked to hear this and she couldn’t tell why, Adams was supposed to get married a month after their divorce? A month after!? Now she realizes how much she must have meant to him back then, he couldn’t wait to get rid of her just so he could bring in someone else a month after their separation, her hatred for Adams seems to have only increased even more, but she choose not to say anything to Mrs Bridget yet and just listen to the rest of what she has to say.
“That passed and now that my son is suppose to move on with someone else you’ve shown up once more to ruin everything again!” She half yelled. “Look here Alicia, you’ve moved on with your life already so I see no reason why you won’t let Adams move on with his life, I want my son to get remarried to the right person but it seems you’re holding him back, I’ve only come
here to see you because I want to tell you to stay the hell away from my son, he has a woman in his life and you’re ruining
things for them with your unwanted presence!”
“Why couldn’t you just stay away huh? Is life so difficult for you that you returned with a fake child and want to get back with my son, and I said fake because that child doesn’t belong to Adams!”
“You should watch your mouth Mrs Bridget!” Alicia snapped, all to the surprise of Mrs Bridget who wasn’t expecting her to talk to her in such a way.
“I and Adams are have been divorced for six years now and do you think I would want anything to do with that son of yours or anyone from your family?” She scoffed. “If you want to take out your anger and frustration on someone then you should do that to your son, you also have no right to tell me what to do or tell me to stay away from this country, my own country! If Adams doesn’t want to get remarried then how’s that my fault, he’s old enough to make his own decisions and you don’t have to keep treating him like a child.”
“Why don’t we also come to an agreement that karma is the one dealing with you and your family right now, you came here to warn me to stay away from your son, why don’t you go warn your son to stay away from me since he won’t stop pestering my life!” She fumed. “And one more thing since we’re already talking about keeping people away, since your dear son doesn’t want to stay away from me, I won’t hesitate to get a restraining order on him and report him to the authorities, you should also pass this warning to him, the next time I see him again, I will be taking extreme measures that could put him behind bars, so deal with that problem of yours well or I’ll be doing the needful.”
Before Mrs Bridget could say anything, Alicia got into her car and drove off.
Mrs Bridget’s mouth was slightly opened in shock, she came here to warn Alicia but it seems like the opposite happened and Alicia ended up warning her instead, she sees Alicia’s behavior as an insult and she’s never been this insulted before.
She turned to stare in the direction which Alicia took, her whole body was shaking with rage.
This isn’t over Alicia, this isn’t over!”
