hieleila had a dream.
She saw herself planning the final shot of that film–the male lead fastening the pendant around the female lead’s neck against crashing waves and sunrise.
That pendant was hers.
But filming halted. The plan dissolved.
She died.
Yet now, the pendant lay beside her.
Her ears rang, reality and dream blurring as light and shadow fractured before her eyes.
She saw Andrew standing on Heritage Coast’s shore, clutching her script and weeping.
He replayed her final recording in the editing room.
There she was in a white dress at Sunset Care Center, delivering her gentlest farewell.
“Who am I?”
She whispered to herself.
Her mind exploded with echoes.
“Emerie, I know it’s you. You promised to stay till the end credits.”
Emerie, you were supposed to be dead.
Why are you still here?
She stumbled backward, finding herself on a film set.
Chaos erupted around her.
Someone rushed to help, but she crouched down clutching her head, tears streaming:
“I just wanted to see him one last time.”
“I shouldn’t be alive.”
“I only wanted to see him.”
“Why am I still here?”

Chapter 17
Sean appeared silently, a gray badge in hand, his gaze inscrutable.
He kept his distance, murmuring:
“You chose this.”
“Your only chance.”
“Remembering everything means fulfilling your obsession.”
“You’ve met the reset conditions.”
She sobbed into her hands: “But I don’t want to go.”
“He just recognized me.”
Conscious but drained, leila Sophieleila trembled on the bed.
The ashen transfer badge on her wrist glowed red-
her soul data flickering unstable.
She gripped it like clutching a final lifeline.
She was Emerie.
Not a shadow, replacement, or copy.
She wasn’tleila Sophieleila.
Just wearing new skin, carrying regrets and memories back to Andrew.
Now he might know her.
Yet she was fading.
That night, Andrew came to her dressing room.
He stood outside silently, watching her curled on the sofa through the glass, tear tracks still wet.
His knuckles brushed the door, voice barely a whisper:
“I know you.”
“From your first word.”
“Don’t leave again, okay?”
Sophieleila closed her eyes as tears slid down.
She tried to speak, but her throat seized–no sound emerged.
In that moment, the world fell silent.
