Chapter 5

The crowd turned their heads toward the source of the voice, eyes fixed on the rumpled man who had just caused a commotion.

It was none other than Kayce Campbell, supposedly ‘on a business trip.”

Alexandra Morris cast him a fleeting glance, her voice icy and steady.

“Sir, you must have wandered into the wrong place, haven’t you? What brings you to the Morris Corporation’s heir ceremony?”

Kayce was taken aback by her words and flashed an embarrassed smile.

“Darling, what’s going on? Are you feeling off? Why are you talking nonsense? I’m still your husband and have landed a major deal for the company. If not me, then who would be the heir? Do you think you’re up to the challenge?”

Disregarding him, Alexandra picked up the microphone and addressed the media with poise.

“Thank you all for your interest in Morris Corporation. Along with announcing our heir, there’s another matter that requires attention today.”

“From today forward, Kayce Campbell will no longer be associated with Morris Corporation. Should he attempt to represent himself using our name, I urge you to be cautious!”

Her announcement left the journalists stunned, and Kayce stood frozen in disbelief.

“Alex… what do you mean by this?”

She shot him a steely glance, noting the suspicious marks peeking from his turtleneck.

With a sardonic smile, she turned away and played the incriminating video on the large screen.

“From this moment on, Kayce Campbell and I are going our separate ways.”

The audio, cranked up to full volume, reverberated around the room, causing Kayce’s face to turn beet red with fury.

He clutched the contract in his hand tightly, his body quaking uncontrollably.

“Alex, where did you get these videos?”

His lips trembled with tension, his eyes darted frantically.

“No, Alex, listen to me. Chelsea and I are just friends, nothing more!”

“This video must be some Al-generated fake!”

“Someone’s clearly envious of you, such a wonderful wife, and is trying to set me up!”

Kayce, desperate, rushed to the stage, but security swiftly restrained and subdued him.

Alexandra regarded him from above, her gaze steady and unwavering.

Just then, Kayce’s voice echoed from the video.

“Alexandra Morris is too harsh on me. I have no freedom. It’s calming to be with you, Chelsea, away from all the problems.”

Hearing his own words, Kayce hung his head in defeat.

He wanted to refute them but couldn’t summon the words.

Alexandra calmly placed the prepared divorce papers before him.

“Sign the papers.”

“Since you enjoy sipping coffee with your ‘friends’ so much, go ahead. Knock yourself out.”

The media erupted, the scene of a couple divorcing during an heir ceremony was headline material.

Journalists already pictured tomorrow’s sensational news splashed across the front pages.

Kayce looked up at her, swallowing nervously.

His demeanor changed suddenly, as if a weight had been lifted, and he laughed out loud.

“Hahaha!”

“You want me to walk away empty-handed? On what grounds?”

“You don’t have concrete proof of betrayal. Why should I leave with nothing?”

“Divorce is fine, but only if you give me half of your assets!”

He sneered at her with smugness.

Alexandra’s expression soured, finally seeing him for his true self.

Once seen as noble, above petty greed, Kayce had revealed himself as nothing but a greedy opportunist.

Despite the lack of solid evidence, Alexandra knew a divorce could mean splitting their assets..

Kayce, observing her conflicted expression, grinned even wider.
