Chapter 4

Alexandra smirked and ended the call without responding. Soon after, messages from Chelsea Knight began flooding in.

‘Can’t you show more understanding as Kayce’s wife?”

“He’s working tirelessly, traveling to close deals. If you had any sense, you’d change the date back!”

‘Otherwise, when he returns, you’ll regret it!”

Faced with her aggressive tone, Alexandra calmly crafted a response.

“How do you know Kayce is on a business trip and having a hard time? Perhaps because you’re with him?”

After sending that message, there was a sudden silence from the other side.

Maybe feeling guilty, Chelsea eventually sent a laughing emoji.

“How could I be with him? I’m just repeating what he told me!”

Just as Alexandra was about to reply, her phone rang. It was Kayce calling.

She answered, and Kayce’s familiar voice came through.

‘Alex, I heard you moved the inheritance ceremony up?”

“Yes.”

Her tone was cool and neutral, revealing nothing.

Kayce chuckled softly, almost pleadingly.

“Alex, could you not move it up?”

“The client here is proving difficult, and I might not be able to make it back in time.”

Hearing this, Alexandra couldn’t help but laugh.

“Kayce, you’re hilarious! Why should the schedule for the Morris Group’s inheritance ceremony revolve around you?”

“What are you saying? Aren’t I the heir of the Morris Group?”

Kayce sounded confused, even a bit unsure.

There was a time when Alexandra had indeed promised him that the Morris Group would be handed over to him, freeing him from her father’s criticism.

But now, she realized that respect wasn’t something given, but earned.

With Kayce’s unreliable ways, it was no wonder her father had never approved of him.

She was done wasting words on him and hung up immediately.

She then blocked and deleted all of Kayce’s contact information, ensuring he couldn’t reach her again.

Chelsea had criticized her, claiming she was failing as a wife.

Without hesitation, Alexandra blocked and deleted her too, leaving her world much more peaceful.

The day before the ceremony, Junior Mendoza, Kayce’s friend, approached her, demanding she revert the date.

Unfazed, Alexandra casually dismissed him and called in security to escort him out.

It was obvious to her that Kayce had sent him.

Unable to return himself, Kayce had assured her he’d be gone for a month, leaving him no choice but to rely on his friends to gather information and persuade her to delay the event.

The press conference went ahead as planned, attracting widespread media attention.

“Is the Morris Group’s heir the rumored Kayce Campbell, who married into the family?”

“Is this century-old legacy really going to be handed over to an outsider?”

Faced with these pointed questions from the media, Alexandra remained resolute.

“No! Kayce Campbell is merely an outsider. The heir to the Morris family cannot possibly be him!”

Just as she finished speaking, a scruffy-looking man with bloodshot eyes appeared at the entrance of the conference.

He held out a contract, grinning broadly at her.

“Wife, I finally secured the deal!”

“Now Dad will surely agree to hand over the company to me, right?”
