Chapter 10
He couldn’t even walt for the sunrise the next day. On the same day they confirmed their relationship, he swept her away to get their marriage certificate.
From engagement to marriage, the whole process took less than a month.
On their wedding day, his eyes were misty as he gazed at her with deep affection.
“Alex, I’ve dreamed of this moment countless times.”
“Today, I finally made it reality.”
This incredibly influential man gently took her hand, slipping on the ring that promised a lifetime together.
She smiled, squeezing his hand in return, and kissed his forehead lightly.
“To the rest of our lives.”
Not long after the wedding, she became pregnant.
Oakley treated her like a cherished treasure every day, attentive and gentle.
One day, she finally managed to escape for a stroll, only to run into Kayce Campbell at the street corner.
He appeared exhausted, with dark circles under his eyes, clearly from lack of sleep.
Annoyed by the unlucky encounter, she intended to ignore him, but he called out to her.
“Alex!”
She stopped, responding with irritation:
“We’re not close at all. What makes you think you can call me Alex?”
Hearing this, Kayce gave a bitter smile.
“Leaving you was my biggest regret.”
“If I could turn back time, I would never have let Chelsea Knight sway me.”
Hearing this, she couldn’t help but feel sorry for Chelsea.
The man she loved now blamed his misfortunes on her.
She deeply despised Kayce!
“Enough, there’s no point in bringing up the past. Don’t make me lose respect for you.”
She wanted to end the conversation, but Kayce wouldn’t let her.
He grabbed her arm forcefully, his voice hoarse as he spoke.
“Alex, for the love we once had, can you give me another chance?”
“Let go of me!”
She struggled to shake him off, but the difference in strength between them made it impossible.
Then, a stronger force pulled her arm away.
As her hand was lifted, it revealed the wedding ring on her finger.
Oakley’s slightly jealous voice cut through.
“Just so you know, Alex is now my wife. Get lost!”
Hearing this, Kayce finally noticed the ring on her finger.
He clutched his chest, looking at her with deep pain.
“You… you really won’t forgive me?”
Before the words had fully formed, Chelsea suddenly appeared, tears streaming down her face.
“Kayce Campbell, have you no shame?”
“These days, you’ve been lounging at home drinking coffee, not working or earning money. To support you, I’ve sold all the jewelry you gave me!”
I was just about to look for a job, and I find you begging Alex again!”
“Are you even human?”
“Let’s break up!”
Tears stained Chelsea’s face, clearly showing her heart was shattered.
Hearing “break up,” Kayce reacted dramatically, shouting:
“No! You can’t leave me!”
“I sacrificed everything for you, I’ve completely fallen out with Alex because of you. Don’t think you can just walk away!”
Chelsea looked at him, full of disappointment, and shook her head.
“This is unbelievable!”
With that, Chelsea walked away without a backward glance.
Kayce immediately followed, clinging to her like a persistent shadow.
She watched them disappear into the distance and sighed:
“There really is no loyalty among thieves!”
Only after they had completely vanished did she realize she might have forgotten something.
Oakley’s handsome face suddenly appeared in front of her.
“You’ve been sneaky, slipping out again. How should I punish you this time?”
Hearing this, she turned to flee, but he quickly caught her by the collar.
She laughed, trying to charm her way out of trouble.
“Oh, honey~ I was just getting bored staying home all the time and wanted to take a walk~”
She even winked at him playfully.
Oakley sighed softly, patting her head.
“Ah, I just can’t resist you.”
“Alex, it’s not that I want to control you. It’s just that you have a baby inside you now, so you need to be cautious.”
“Promise me, the next time you want to go out, we’ll go together, okay?”
Looking at his sincere face, she nodded blankly.
“Good girl.”
He praised her without hesitation, leading her back home by the hand.
A year later, Oakley was at home playing with their baby, while she lounged on the couch eating spiced honey cake.
According to a friend of Kayce, he continued to persistently pursue Chelsea, always sticking by her side.
Chelsea had no choice but to stay with him, and they constantly argued-small fights every three days, big ones every five.
Chelsea even became pregnant with Kayce’s child.
But Kayce was so used to his carefree lifestyle that he refused to work and earn money.
With no funds to support a child, Chelsea had to terminate the pregnancy.
When Kayce found out, he went mad and attacked her, insisting she couldn’t leave him.
Reading this story-like text on her phone, she couldn’t help but sigh.
Just then, the baby suddenly called out.
“Ma-ma~”
She immediately widened her eyes, tossing her phone aside and rushing to the baby’s side.
“Baby, you’re amazing, you finally called me mommy!”
It was the first time the baby had spoken.
Watching her joyful, almost frantic expression, Oakley stood by, both amused and a little envious.
