Chapter 46 Who Do You Think You Are?
Gabriel’s expression darkened.
He stepped forward to Emily, his sheer presence swallowing her whole. “Say that again.” His voice was sharp and cold.
However, Emily didn’t seem to be fazed at all. Instead, she firmly repeated herself, “I want a divorce. I’ll walk away with nothing. Please, just let me go.”
“Let you go?” Gabriel let out a humorless laugh. “Why should I? So you can move on to your next target?”
Emily shut her eyes. She was too tired to argue with him. “Whatever you think. I’ve e–mailed you the divorce papers. Sign them, and we’re done.”
Her indifference infuriated Gabriel. He grabbed her wrist and yanked her hard against him. ” Done? Let me remind you, I choose when our marriage begins or ends. Who do you think you are?” He leaned down, his breath felt hot against Emily’s ear, every word laced with venom.
“You’re not going anywhere until I’m done with you. For now, you’re still my wife.”
At the corner of the parking lot, Amelia hid behind a pillar, watching everything unfold. She heard every word.
She knew that Gabriel still cared for her. After all, he didn’t blame her for what had happened in the office earlier. In fact, he was now punishing Emily for it.
The hopeless despair on Emily’s face was delicious to watch. She was all beauty and no wit.
Emily was never a match for her. Sooner or later, Amelia would become Gabriel’s wife.
Her lips curved into a satisfied smile as she slipped silently back into her car.
…
The next morning, the nurses‘ station at the department of cardiothoracic surgery was filled with the smell of freshly brewed coffee and tea.
“Wow! These are from that famous coffee shop in Southport!”
“Who’s treat is it?”
Amelia turned up, carrying several takeout bags with a bright smile. She wore a cream–colored Chanel jacket, her hair was styled in soft curls, and her makeup was flawless.
“It’s my treat!” she said, warmly handing out the drinks, without the usual attitude of a CEO’s

secretary.

“Thank you all so much for yesterday. I really don’t know what I would have done without you “she trailed off with tears glistening in her eyes, as if she was trying to put on a strong front.
The nurses immediately swarmed around her, offering a chorus of comfort.
“Don’t be upset, Ms. Waverly. We’re all on your side!”
“Yeah! Dr. Sterling has some nerve, hitting on Mr. Holton when she knows he’s dating you.”
“Don’t worry! We’ll keep an eye on her for you!”
Amelia gratefully smiled and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. It was a casual gesture, but it successfully drew everyone’s attention to her left hand.
A massive pink diamond caught their eyes.
“Oh my god! Ms. Waverly, that ring!”
“Did Mr. Holton propose?”
Gasps and squeals broke out in the room.
Amelia’s cheeks flushed red, and she shyly lowered her head. “He proposed last night,” she said in a soft voice. “He said he couldn’t bear to see me hurt anymore and that he wanted to make things official.”
The implication behind her words was clear–Gabriel had proposed right after having been caught cheating.
The nurses immediately began to paint the scene in their minds–Gabriel rushing to comfort his wronged girlfriend by proposing that very same night.
“Wow! That’s so romantic!”
“Congratulations, Ms. Waverly! You and Mr. Holton are a match made in heaven!”
“Emily better back off for good now!”
Amelia’s pride swelled under their praises.
This was exactly what she wanted. Now, everyone knew she was Gabriel’s true love. She was determined to crush Emily to the point where she couldn’t even show her face in this hospital.
Just then, a tall, imposing figure appeared at the end of the hallway.
It was Gabriel.
He was at the hospital that day to discuss a collaboration with Adrain. However, as he approached the department of cardiothoracic surgery, he found himself surrounded by the

chattering nurses.
“Congratulations, Mr. Holton!”
“Mr. Holton, when’s the wedding with Ms. Waverly? We’re all waiting for our invites!”

Gabriel’s brow furrowed in confusion. His gaze swept over Amelia who was wearing a blissful smile, then he saw the glaring diamond ring on her finger.
He immediately realized what was happening, and a wave of irritation washed over him. He felt like he was being manipulated.
But just as he was about to deny it, he caught sight of a slender figure.
Emily had just stepped out of a patient’s room with a medical chart in her hand. She was quietly standing not too far away, watching the scene.
