Chapter 31 Get Out
Where did the blood come from, then?
Gabriel’s expression darkened. He was not an idiot, so he immediately realized that Amelia had
tricked him.
Mallory, who was holding her laughter in, finally found a chance to chime in.
“It turns out that you’re incredibly healthy, Ms. Waverly. Weren’t you always feeling dizzy to the point that you couldn’t even keep your balance? Was that all an act? You’re so good at acting. Why didn’t you become an actress and win an award for that?” Mallory mocked.
Amelia’s face looked ashen. She immediately sat up and shouted at Mallory, “Nonsense! I wasn’t acting!”
Then, she turned to Gabriel, and her tears started gushing down her cheek.
“I didn’t lie to you, Gabe. I was just… having a hard time adjusting to the environment since I had just arrived on a medical mission. Oh yes! I also had altitude sickness. That was why I often felt sick!
” said Amelia.
She sounded more and more sure as she spoke, as if she had found a good excuse.
Vitroct, however, frowned and said truthfully, “Ms. Waverly, we’ve checked for those conditions during the examination earlier. The oxygen level in your blood is normal. You’re not showing symptoms of altitude sickness and trouble getting used to the environment.

All of Amelia’s excuses got stuck in her throat. She watched as Gabriel’s face grew increasingly sullen, and she was seized with panic.
What should she do?
This was all Emily’s damn fault. If she hadn’t brought it up, these tactless doctors wouldn’t have exposed her in front of Gabriel.
After she froze for a few seconds, she had no choice but to play her trump card, saying, “I’m so tired. Gabe, my head hurts. I want to rest…‘
Mallory rolled her eyes. She wanted to say more to twist the knife, but Gabriel said, “Enough.”
His voice was not loud, but it made everyone fall silent. He glanced at everyone in the room and said, “Get out, all of you.”
Victor and Theodore got the message and left.
Mallory shot a glance at Emily and walked out as well.
Chapter 31 Get Out
203
Emily was the last to turn around. Right as she was about to leave, she saw out of the corner of her eye the trash can by the bed, leading her to stop in her tracks.
She walked up to the trash can slowly, bending over to pick up a plastic bag from the pile of scrap paper while Gabriel watched in confusion.
There were remnants of some sticky liquid with a disturbingly unnatural red hue in the bag. It was
fake blood.
Emily walked up to the bed and held the bag in Amelia’s face.
There was no anger in her eyes as she looked at Amelia. There was only the kind of indifference that came after she had seen through her dirty trick.
“This is the blood that you shed?” she asked.
Amelia stopped breathing for two seconds.
With a mocking gaze, Emily said, “You do have a few tricks up your sleeve. It’s a pity that you’re a fool. Why did you dump your evidence here?”
Amelia’s lips trembled. Her face was pale, and she was unable to utter a single word.
Emily let go, and the bag of cheap fake blood plopped onto Amelia’s white blanket, leaving a laughable mark behind. It was only then that she turned around and left.
Gabriel’s expression was unreadable as he looked down at the blanket.
Amelia started trembling uncontrollably, and she said, “Gabe, I… I didn’t mean to do it…”
Gabriel finally looked at Amelia, but his gaze was icy.
“This is nonsense,” he uttered.
Amelia was taken aback. Suddenly, she saw a glimpse of hope. Was Gabriel mad that she was joking around with her health? She still cared about her.
However, what Gabriel said next shattered all of her hallucinations.
“If it weren’t for Emily, the patient who was waiting to receive emergency care would’ve died already. Amelia, you almost killed a person!” said Gabriel.
Amelia’s mind went blank. It turned out that he wasn’t worried about her at all. He was mad at her for messing up a serious business.
She felt a sharp sense of resentment surging within her, swelling so much that she thought she might burst.
Why was Gabriel so biased toward Emily? Was he only going to put all of his attention on her if Emily died?
Chapter 31 Get Out
Ma
That night, Emily was in her apartment about to make herself some food when her doorbell rang.
She thought it was Mallory, but she saw Gabriel’s icy expression instead after she opened the door. She immediately wanted to close it, but he put his hand in the doorway, pressing it against the door.
He then pushed the door open with his might and walked in. His tall figure made the narrow living room even more cramped.
Emily took a step back, putting some distance between them.
“What are you doing here?” she asked with her guard up.
