Chapter 15 Are You Sure Emily Was Behind This

Those that didn’t know any better would’ve been convinced that Amelia was defending Emily

Jackson immediately followed up with, Emily is the one who ordered us to do this! She even

called me!”

He hastily fished out his phone and showed Gabriel his call history. Gabriel recognized the phone number immediately. Jackson was rightthe number did belong to Emily

Amelia looked like she was in disbelief. She held her head with her hands and pretended as if

she was about to break down

Sobbing, she cried, Does Dr. Sterling really hate me that much? She even hired someone to sexually assault me and ruin my reputation.”

I do hate you a lot.”

At the entrance to the alleyway, Emily slowly made her way over to the group. Mallory and a couple of other doctors were following closely behind her

Amelia’s expression tensed up for a second before she started to sob even harder. How could you, Dr. Sterling? You know how much a woman’s reputation matters to her, don’t you? How could you use such vile and lowly tactics to harm me?”

She was crying hysterically and behaving as if she’d been horribly wronged. Emily simply stared at her and didn’t say a word. Subsequently, her lips curved up into a smirk

You’re right. A woman’s reputation is of utmost importance. Therefore, I’d like to make one clarification, she declared

She continued, That may be my number, but I already lost my phone when I was trapped in the rain the other day.”

If Mallory hadn’t told her that she saw Amelia sneaking around with a couple of sleazy men, Emily wouldn’t have followed them all the way here. As a result of that, she also wouldn’t have caught Amelia trying to frame her with the phone she’d already misplaced

Ahresponded Amelia. You lost your phone? Don’t you think it’s rather convenient that you happened to lose your phone at a time like this, Dr. Sterling?”

She continued, YYou can’t be coming up with some excuse in order to not take responsibility for your actions, right? After all, aside from you, no one here seems to have a reason to go to such lengths topick on me.”

Amelia spoke in a soft and gentle manner, but everything she said was a pointed jab at Emily

Emily met her gaze and stared at her with a mocking expression

A reason to pick on you?she repeated before abruptly narrowing the distance between them. Do you have the guts to tell everyone why I actually have it out for you?”

Of course, she didn’t. Amelia tried to defend herself, but she was at a loss for words. Ultimately, she could only look toward Gabriel for help

Dr. Sterling sounds so scary, Gabe. I’m so afraid of her.”

Emily clicked her tongue in annoyance. Not bothering to hide her feelings, she sneered, What makes you so sure that I’ll keep the matter a secret forever, Ms. Waverly?”

Once she exposed her marriage to Gabriel to the public, Amelia would be forced to drop her act. However, she didn’t want their relationship to come to light unless the situation absolutely warranted it

Besides, she didn’t want to be known as Mrs. Holton when she was about to get a divorce soon. The title would only cause her more trouble

Gabriel caught on to what she was implying and instinctively changed the topic. It’s getting late, and the wind is blowing quite strongly. Amelia’s quite frail, so she can’t be outside for too long. Let’s continue investigating this matter some other day.”

He wasn’t afraid of people knowing that they were married. He just didn’t want them to gossip about their marriage. With a cold expression, Emily walked over to Gabriel and Amelia and lifted up her arm to block them from leaving

That won’t do. My phone was misplaced. So who was the one who found it and used it to contact these hooligans?she asked

She continued, Ms. Waverly is right. A woman’s reputation is very important. I’d appreciate it if you could figure out what happened right now and clear my name.”

At this point, she didn’t care about Gabriel anymore. She wanted to get to the bottom of this, even if he’d hate her for it. She’d let things slide in the past, but she didn’t want to put up with this anymore

Growing even more aggravated, Gabriel spat, If Amelia catches a cold, are you going to take responsibility for it?”

Emily scoffed

Gabriel was already feeling sorry for Amelia because she’d come in contact with a draft of cold

Amelia immediately slumped against him and said, I’m freezing, Gabe. Let’s hurry up and go

Emily didn’t budge. As the atmosphere turned strained, one of the doctors hastily tried to slip

away

It’s getting rather late. Everyone’s exhausted, the doctor said. Didn’t Dr. Prescott say that she was going to treat us to a meal? Come onlet’s head to the restaurant before everyone else does.”

Upon reading the room, the other doctors swiftly came up with a way to excuse themselves. Gabriel, on the other hand, didn’t say a word. He grabbed Amelia and skirted past Emily before heading back to their hotel

Mallory patted Emily on the shoulder. With a sympathetic expression, she said, Don’t be upset, Mills. That jerk’s not worth

your attention.”

Emily wasn’t upset at all. In fact, she was feeling rather happy

She flashed Mallory a calm smile. I’m not upset. This marriage had been a mistake from the very beginning. Now that it’s finally coming to an end, I feel extremely happy about it.”

Mallory let out a breath of relief. Come on then. Let’s go. Since your days of suffering are coming to an end, we’re going to have a feast to celebrate!”

In the meantime, Gabriel and Amelia were back at their hotel

After Gabriel poured Amelia a glass of warm water, she took a sip of it before setting down the glass. Then, she stared at him and said, Thank you

Gabe.”

He nodded and turned to leave. Upon seeing this, she frantically reached out to grab his sleeve

Please don’t leave, Gabe, I’m scared of being alone, she begged. II was really frightened by those men earlier. I genuinely don’t know why Dr. Sterling has it out for me.”

While she was speaking, her jacket slipped off her shoulders, exposing her bare arms

Amelia believed that she could exploit his guilt and replace Emily as the next Mrs. Holton if she managed to sleep with him once. But to her dismay, things didn’t go the way she wanted

them to

Gabriel looked unfazed. Instead of being swayed by her, he even reached over to pull her jacket

Status: Ongoing

🌙 Part 1 — The Night of Exhaustion

It was 2 a.m. when Emily Sterling lay curled up on the bed, her body trembling from exhaustion. Her husband, Gabriel Holton, had just returned from a business trip after several days, and all his pent-up desire had exploded into wild intensity.
The floor was littered with used condoms — eight in total. Emily’s throat was sore from crying out, her limbs heavy like stone. When she whispered “Water,” Gabriel wordlessly helped her sit up and brought a glass to her lips.

💔 Part 2 — Beauty Beside a Stranger

Under the warm light, Emily gazed at the man she had married two years ago. Gabriel’s sharp, striking features glowed with confidence and power — the kind of man women fell for instantly. But to Emily, he was a mystery, both familiar and unreachable.
In that quiet moment, a thought bloomed in her heart: maybe it was time for them to have a baby — a child with both their blood. Maybe a baby could bring warmth to their cold marriage.

❄️ Part 3 — The Shattered Dream

Her daydream shattered when Gabriel’s deep, indifferent voice broke the silence.
“Remember to take your pills tomorrow.”
Emily froze, then forced a bitter smile. “Even with condoms, you’re still not reassured?”
Gabriel’s lips curled in mockery. “What do you think?”
His cold words stabbed through her chest, crushing what little hope remained. The tension hung heavy between them, until a sudden phone ringtone pierced the air.

📱 Part 4 — The Name That Killed the Silence

Emily glanced at the glowing phone screen — the name Amelia appeared.
Amelia Waverly. The woman everyone knew as Gabriel’s childhood sweetheart. They had grown up together, studied together, and when she returned from abroad, Gabriel personally appointed her as his secretary. Their connection was deep, their bond undeniable. Everyone whispered that Amelia was the true woman in Gabriel’s heart — not his wife.

Part 5 — A Call That Broke Her Heart

Gabriel picked up the call immediately. Amelia’s soft voice floated clearly through the quiet room:
“Gabe, I think I’m running a slight fever. Can you take me to the hospital?”
Gabriel’s voice softened, almost tender. “Sure. Rest for now. I’ll be there shortly.”
He hung up, his expression tight with concern. Emily’s fingers trembled under the blanket as she watched him hurry to dress. A wave of pain hit her.

🌧️ Part 6 — The Memory That Burned

Her mind flashed back to last year — when she had gone on a medical mission to the countryside. A disaster struck, and terrified, she had called Gabriel for help.
But instead of comforting her, he had mocked her for “overreacting,” hanging up coldly. That night, she had nearly died in fear — and he hadn’t cared.
Now, Amelia had a mild fever, and Gabriel was willing to rush out in the middle of the night. For Emily, it was clear: her husband had never loved her.

🕯️ Part 7 — The Jealous Wife

Driven by anger and pain, Emily threw off the blanket, ran to the door, and blocked Gabriel’s path. “It’s so late. Do you really have to go?”
Gabriel looked down at her, his eyes flat, unreadable. “You’re jealous?”
Emily bit her lip and nodded. “As your wife, shouldn’t I be?”
He smirked cruelly. “You’re not worthy of being jealous of Amelia.”
His words sliced through her soul. Without another glance, he turned the doorknob and walked out, slamming the door into her shoulder as he left.

🌪️ Part 8 — Left Behind in Silence

Emily stumbled backward and collapsed to the floor. The slam echoed like thunder in her mind. Moments later, she heard the roar of his car engine fading into the distance.
The room was now painfully quiet. The sheets still smelled of him, but the warmth was gone. She wrapped her arms around her knees, trembling, tears streaming endlessly.
For the first time, she admitted the truth — she had fallen into an abyss of her own making.

💧 Part 9 — A Fool’s Love

Emily realized she had always known this marriage was hollow. She had tried to fill it with love, patience, and faith, but Gabriel had only ever kept one woman in his heart — Amelia.
She was nothing but a placeholder, a name on a marriage certificate, a woman to share his bed but not his heart.
Still, she couldn’t stop the ache. Even in pain, she had loved him too deeply, hoping he might one day look at her with tenderness. That hope now turned to ashes.

🔥 Part 10 — The Final Blow

Just as her tears began to dry, her phone rang again.
It was her best friend, Mallory Prescott.
“Mills! Guess who I just saw — your husband! He’s got a woman in his arms, and they look real close. That bastard! Couldn’t he have gone to any other hospital? He came to yours! Is he trying to disgust you on purpose?”
Emily’s hand trembled as she listened. Her vision blurred with tears, not from surprise — but confirmation. Everything she had feared was real.
Gabriel hadn’t just left her alone; he had humiliated her completely.

That night, Emily Sterling realized it was truly time to leave — not just the house, but the man who had never once looked back.
