Chapter 11 Dr. Sterling is Truly Impressive
Gabriel sat within the temporary headquarters, surrounded by a shockingly oppressive air.
The person leading the rescue team had his forehead beaded with sweat, and he said in a trembling voice, “Mr. Holton, we… we are still searching with our best efforts, but the rain’s just too heavy. There’s low visibility, and the mountain road-”
“All of you are fired if you can’t find her!” Gabriel slammed his fist on the table, sending bits of wood flying.
He couldn’t dare to imagine what would happen if something happened to Emily. No, Emily had to be alright!
Amelia stood by the side. Looking at Gabriel’s enraged state, a look of utter discontent crossed her face. That bitch was still inconveniencing her even after death!
She said softly, “Gabe, it’s all my fault. If I hadn’t insisted on having you accompany me back, you could have realized that Dr. Sterling was missing sooner.
“But don’t worry too much. Dr. Sterling will get to a safe spot once she realizes she’s in danger.

Gabriel’s frustration was at its peak at the moment, so he didn’t have the time to deal with her.
“Stay here. Don’t move,” he snapped impatiently, subconsciously glancing out the window.
Emily was a woman who appeared delicate but was very headstrong deep down. She was smart, so she probably wouldn’t let herself fall into a predicament.
Seeing that Gabriel was instinctively sticking up for Emily, Amelia dug her nails into her palms. Emily had better have died out there! This way, Gabriel would only have her by his side!
Just as Amelia finished cursing Emily, the rescue team’s leader shouted from afar, “Mr. Holton, we’ve found Dr. Sterling!”
The rain gradually subsided in the early morning of the next day. Emily lay quietly on the hospital bed, her breath coming out evenly.
Gabriel sat by her bedside, looking at her with a complicated gaze.
Her face was somewhat sickly pale, and her lips were cracked, without a hint of color to them. Why didn’t Emily call him at the first moment when she was in danger? Did she even view him

as her husband? Or was it that, to her, Gabriel was never someone she could rely on?

Emily’s eyelashes fluttered lightly. She slowly opened her eyes, but her vision was still slightly blurry.
After orienting herself for a moment, she finally saw the person sitting by her bedside. Gabriel? He had saved her? Was he truly the one who appeared in the rain last night?
Feeling pleasantly surprised, she moved her dry lips and croaked out, “Than-”
“You’re awake?” Gabriel returned to his usual mode of indifference the moment he heard her speak, saying, “Very impressive, Dr. Sterling. A man who was here on vacation was determined to save you, even at the cost of his own life.”
As soon as he said that, what little warmth rising within Emily vanished instantly. So he hadn’t been the one who saved her. She had just foolishly assumed.
It made sense. Why would he care about whether she lived or died?
Emily smiled self–deprecatingly and met his apathetic gaze. “Mr. Holton, why are you here with me instead of accompanying Ms. Waverly? Did you come here to check on whether I’ve died, so that you can give my place to your sweetheart sooner?”
Her words were aggressive, but Gabriel didn’t hold it against her. He was about to speak when Amelia’s gentle voice traveled from the door. “Dr. Sterling, you’re awake!”
She walked in holding a tray, looking delicate and graceful, with an expression that carried just the right amount of concern.
Last night, Gabriel had rushed here like a madman. The worry he showed was nothing like
Amelia had ever seen before.
But just as they arrived, they found another man carefully carrying Emily, who looked utterly drenched and unconscious. Gabriel’s expression instantly turned frosty.
Amelia was secretly delighted. Gabriel would definitely loathe Emily even more because of this!
On the surface, Amelia was visiting Emily out of a false show of concern, but in truth, she was just here to witness the quarrel between Emily and Gabriel.
Amelia placed the tray on the bedside table, ladling out a bowl of steaming soup. There were bits of coriander in it.
“Dr. Sterling, I heard that you were in an accident, so I made you some soup. You should drink it to warm up while it’s still hot.”

Emily refused immediately. “There’s no need. I’m not hungry.”
