Chapter 50 

Alexander’s POV 

I stood in the bedroom, staring at the empty space where Charlotte should have been. The silence felt peculiarly foreign to me. I had grown accustomed to her petite figure moving around the room, and to the little anecdotes she would share throughout the day. Now, there was only me. 

I retreated to my study, opening my custom laptop and immersing myself in Kingsley Tech Group’s financial reports and product development progress, attempting to numb myself with work. 

The next morning, when I arrived at Kingsley Group headquarters, everyone I encountered as I stepped out of the elevator greeted me with: “Congratulations, President.” 

I frowned. Dressed in my tailored charcoal gray suit, I suddenly felt somewhat uncomfortable. My wife had gone back to her parents‘ home in anger–what was there to celebrate? 

Even my chief secretary congratulated me, holding the day’s meeting schedule in her hands, excitement evident in her 

eyes. 

“What’s the occasion?” I cast a sharp glance at her. 

Secretary Ross appeared surprised. “Hasn’t Mrs. Kingsley told you yet?” She worried that her big mouth might have spoiled a surprise.

“What was Charlotte supposed to tell me?” My voice remained steady, but those who knew me well could detect the urgency beneath.

Secretary Ross glanced around, and seeing that everyone in the president’s office already knew, she couldn’t hide it anymore. Lowering her voice, she confessed: “Mrs. Kingsley is pregnant.” 

I was so shocked that I coughed twice, impressed by Charlotte’s ability to fabricate such stories out of thin air. 

That afternoon, I drove to Charlotte’s university campus to bring her home. 

Through Jason, I found them in a classroom in the Business School’s new wing. 

Charlotte clearly didn’t want to return home so early. Dressed in simple jeans and a T–shirt, she had rested her delicate face on the desk, using a book as a pillow, looking like someone who had no intention of leaving. 

Jason, seeing me appear, “obediently” gave up his seat. Class had just ended not long ago, and many students were still organizing their notes, discussing the startup case they had analyzed today. 

When I entered, the classroom fell into shocked silence. Someone even dramatically opened a recent issue of “Silicon Valley Entrepreneur” magazine, comparing my photo with the real person standing before them. Some students were so excited they couldn’t speak, nervously tapping their feet. 

I ignored the reactions around me, my gaze locked on only one person. Charlotte’s face was turned toward the window, the sunlight outlining the delicate contours of her profile. I gradually entered her field of vision from that direction, until my tall figure occupied her entire view. 

She lifted her head from the desk in surprise, blinking in disbelief. I bent down to sit on the stool beside her, so close.

Chapter 50 

“Darling–no, Alexander! What are you doing here?” Charlotte blurted out that affectionate term, then quickly allowed anger to resurface. She addressed me by my full name, indicating her dissatisfaction had not yet dissipated. 

‘Shouldn’t I personally come to pick up my wife after class?” I responded, my voice deep and restrained. 

“Ha, who said I’m your wife? Didn’t you tell Jason…” Her words were filled with sarcasm. 

“Ah, ah, ah, Uncle, Charlotte and I have nothing going on, I don’t know anything! I’m leaving!” Jason hurriedly interrupted, afraid Charlotte might say something that would provoke my jealousy. He grabbed a pile of books from the table and quickly fled the scene. 

Charlotte turned and shot me a glare cold enough to freeze me solid. 

My gaze softened, fixed only on the petite figure before me, as if she were the only person in the entire classroom. 

“Charlotte, shall we go home?” I asked, with a rare gentleness in my tone.
