Chapter 46 

“Doesn’t a three–million–dollar bracelet warrant me preparing a surprise for him?” I countered. 

“That was a gift the boss gave you when apologizing,” she pointed out. 

My patience was wearing thin. “Secretary Luo, you seem to know a lot. It appears you not only frequently advise my husband but also know him intimately–even knowing whether he wants surprises or not!” I could barely disguise my 

anger. 

After a brief hesitation, she reluctantly gave me two locations. 

“Any other places?” I pressed. 

“Those are the only two I know,” she insisted, clearly withholding information. 

I narrowed my eyes. “Secretary Luo, I know my husband, too. The tea room is where he meets elders; he wouldn’t go there often. Jade Palace is where he entertains business associates. Are you suggesting I prepare a surprise at a hotel?” As Alexander’s wife, I couldn’t possibly know only these two places. 

She tried again: “Mrs. Kingsley, if you want to know specific locations, please tell me why you’re preparing this surprise. Otherwise, I won’t disclose everything. As Mr. Kingsley’s head secretary, I need to maintain confidentiality for the boss.” 

I decided to play my trump card. “I’m pregnant and want to surprise him. Is that reason enough?” 

Beside me, Jason’s jaw dropped in shock. Even the receptionist at the front desk stared incredulously at my flat stomach and slender waist. 

On the other end of the line, Secretary Luo realized this was happy news. She seemed to hesitate about asking further questions. 

“Congratulations, Mrs. Kingsley,” she said, finally revealing all the places Alexander might go. 

“Thank you,” I replied briefly before hanging up. 

As we descended in the CEO’s private elevator, Jason stared at me wide–eyed. “Charlotte, you’re stopping at nothing, even lying about being pregnant?” 

“Jason, when I catch Alexander, if he dares to cheat, I’ll castrate him,” I threatened, dead serious. 

“…Isn’t that a bit extreme?” he asked, visibly uncomfortable. 

I gave him a cold look. “Protect yourself. The Kingsley family might have to rely on you for heirs in the future.” 

Jason was speechless. 

When the elevator doors opened, I walked out first, with Jason hurrying behind. 

“Charlotte, don’t go crazy. That’s your husband,” he pleaded. 

I ignored him. “Get in the car. Let’s go to the golf course first.”

Chapter 46 

An hour later, Alexander hadn’t appeared at the golf course. 

“Let’s go to the World Kai Club,” I commanded, refusing to give up. 

Another hour passed, and we still hadn’t found him. My determination hadn’t diminished one bit. Back in the car, I stared straight ahead and said, “Let’s go to the Marin County villa.” 

Jason gave me a worried look. “My uncle hasn’t been to his Marin County villa for a long time.” 

“Go,” I insisted firmly. 

With no choice, Jason began driving toward the Marin County villa. 

This was my first visit to Alexander’s “home.” 

Given how much he liked black, I had expected his “home” to be black as well. To my surprise, it was a cream–colored building situated on a flat lawn. The white villa contrasted beautifully with the green grass, and the fresh scenery temporarily calmed the turmoil in my heart. 

I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out of the car, walking up the steps to the entrance. My eyes nervously fixed on the large door, my thoughts racing. If I found Alexander inside… I wasn’t sure what I would do. 

As I approached the door, my hand trembled. I feared what I might hear or see inside. 

After staring at the door for what felt like an eternity, I finally raised my hand and knocked twice–two soft knocks that seemed as feeble as my courage. 

“Who is it?” someone called from inside. It was a woman’s voice. 

In that moment, blood rushed to my head. Tears welled in my eyes, but I fought to hold them back. My fists were clenched 

so tightly that my knuckles made an audible cracking sound.
