Chapter 36 

Alexander’s POV: 

I looked down at my wife beneath me, her entire body flushed pink with embarrassment. I pulled the blanket over to cover her, then walked toward the door while buttoning my shirt. 

Opening the door, I found Jason standing there. Without a word, I kicked him. 

“Ouch, Uncle!” Jason cried out in pain. 

“Go to my study. If this isn’t important, you won’t get away with it tonight,” I commanded coldly. 

Jason clutched his hip, wincing as he stepped back. “I’m looking for Charlotte.” 

“Your aunt is sleeping. Say what you need to me.” 

Jason didn’t dare refuse and obediently followed me to the study. 

“Speak!” I ordered after sitting down. 

“I just wanted to tell Charlotte that someone is smearing her in the school beauty pageant contest,” Jason said cautiously. 

I narrowed my eyes. “Who?” 

“The second–place contestant, Camilla Barret. She’s behind Charlotte by three thousand votes and can’t possibly catch up, 

but she’s spreading rumors on the school forum claiming Charlotte has a sugar daddy who paid for her plastic surgery.” 

After hearing this, I drummed my fingers rhythmically on the desk before asking, “Anything else?” 

Jason hesitated. “Uncle, now that the misunderstandings are cleared up, could you remove the spending limit on my 

account?” 

I waved my hand. “Tomorrow I’ll remove the limit on your bank card.” 

Jason looked at me gratefully. However, I had other conditions. 

“First, no visits to me or Charlotte after 8 PM. No matter how urgent, don’t come looking for us!” 

Jason nodded obediently. 

If Jason hadn’t interrupted tonight, knowing Charlotte, perhaps what was meant to happen would have unfolded naturally, and our relationship would have progressed more smoothly. 

“Second, she’s the campus beauty now, which means more men will be around her. You know what to do, right?” 

Jason excitedly clapped his hands and pointed at me with an “I understand” expression. “Don’t worry, Uncle. I’ve got this covered.” 

When I returned to the bedroom, Charlotte had just come out of the bathroom and curled up on the sofa, her body tensed into a tight ball. Her face was noticeably paler than before.

Chapter 36 

“Charlotte?” I called softly. 

She waved me off. “Don’t talk to me right now. I’m being tortured.” 

Seeing her hands pressed against her abdomen, I immediately understood and looked at her anxiously. “Stomach pain?” 

She nodded, her expression pained. “It feels like my organs are trying to escape. Even breathing hurts.” 

The vibrant young woman from minutes ago had vanished. I reached out to touch her forehead–a thin layer of sweat had formed, confirming her pain. 

Charlotte took a deep breath, her lips turning downward as if she might cry. “I swear I’ll never eat ice cream, cold beer, chips, or chocolate again,” she whimpered, her voice becoming small and fragile. 

Watching her curled up in pain, I felt a pang in my heart. 

I took out my phone, opened the search browser and typed: “How to help wife with menstrual pain?” followed by “What should a husband do when wife has stomach pain?” and “Things to know about menstrual periods.” 

After five minutes of research, I brought a cup of hot chocolate. 

Then I sat down and placed my hand on her abdomen, gently massaging to ease her pain. Charlotte’s face turned bright red, and she avoided my gaze, though I could feel her eyes on me when I wasn’t looking directly at her. 

“Didn’t you know you would be uncomfortable today?” I asked softly. 

Charlotte bit her lip and nodded. “I never really keep track of these dates.” 

“The 18th. Remember it. No ice cream when you go home. All junk food is forbidden until the end of this week.” 

She nodded weakly. 

Charlotte soon fell asleep. Her face rested against my leg, peaceful in slumber. 

She looked so vulnerable, so different from the rebellious young woman who had barged into my life. Under the cover of night, with no one to see, I leaned down and gently pressed my lips to hers.
