Chapter75
Ellsworth took his hands out of his pockets and slowly trapped Harriet against the wall with his arms. Lowering his head to look at her, he teased, “You sent everyone to the hospital. Shouldn’t you at least give me a son to make up for it?”

‘…” Harriet.
Their eyes met. Harriet reminded him, “That person isn’t pregnant. If you want a son, you’ll have to work a bit harder.”
Harriet’s subtle sarcasm made Ellsworth burst out laughing, his
laughter hearty and unrestrained. He said, “Harriet, are your
provoking me? How about I verify it right here with you?”
Ellsworth didn’t seem angry at all. In fact, he seemed to be in a
good mood, every word laced with flirtation.
Harriet pressed her back tightly against the wall, her hands.
braced against Ellsworth’s chest. “No need. If you want to verify
something, go do it somewhere else.”
The more Harriet resisted, the closer Ellsworth leaned in. Seeing
her avoid his gaze, Ellsworth bent down to kiss her, but Harriet

pushed him away at once.
Ellsworth still wasn’t angry. He grabbed her hands and pinned
them against the wall, then leaned down and kissed her lips.
Her lips were caught in his kiss. After a moment, Harriet grew
angry. She shook off Ellsworth’s hands and pushed him away,
saying, “Ellsworth, do you really take me for an idiot? Do you
really think I have no temper? Just because I don’t argue with
you or make a scene doesn’t mean I don’t have thoughts of my
own.”
After speaking, she rubbed her left wrist, which had just been
grabbed, with her right hand, her expression dark.
Ellsworth didn’t mind at all. He lifted her chin, half-smiling as he
said, “So what are you thinking? Tell me about it.”
In three years of marriage, this was the first time Harriet had
gotten angry over his affairs outside. He was actually quite
interested, wanting to hear what she really thought.
She thought Ellsworth would make a big deal out of it, get angry
at her for raising her voice, or accuse her of being heartless.
However, Ellsworth was completely unconcerned. Instead, he teased her with genuine interest, leaving Harriet with no temper

left.
Not wanting to keep arguing, Harriet changed the subject. “Go
take a shower first. My stomach hurts today, so let’s both get
some rest early.”
By saying this, Harriet was also hinting to Ellsworth that she
wasn’t feeling well today, so he shouldn’t get any other ideas.
As she brushed past Ellsworth, he grabbed her arm and, with a
bit of force, pulled her back.
Her back pressed against the wall-not too hard, not too soft-as
Ellsworth trapped her again. For a moment, Harriet found him
rather annoying.
Maybe it was because she had dealt with Eileen’s issues during
the day, or maybe it was because of her period, but right now
she was irritated by Ellsworth’s persistence-especially since it
was his fault, yet he was demanding an explanation from her.
Lifting her head, she met Ellsworth’s intense gaze. Harriet didn’t
hold back and said directly, “I find you disgusting. Disgusted by
how dirty you are outside. Is that reason enough? Can you stop
touching me from now on?”
Harriet’s voice wasn’t loud, nor was her emotion intense, but

her slow, measured words landed with weight
Very heavy.
Ellsworth stared at Harriet, motionless. For a moment, he was
speechless, stunned by her bluntness,
He had expected her to get angry or make excuses, but he
hadn’t expected her to be so honest about her disgust.
With his eyes lowered, Ellsworth looked at Harriet, unable to
speak for a long time.
They stared at each other for a while, Seeing Ellsworth stunned
by her words, Harriet removed his hand from the wall, quietly
stepped out of his embrace, and said calmly, “I’m going to rest
now. You should get some sleep too.”
With that, she walked to the right side of the bed, pulled back
the covers, and lay down.
With her back facing Ellsworth’s side of the bed, Harriet said
nothing more,
Only then did Ellsworth turn to look at Harriet.
Those two sentences she had just said were indeed heavy-
heavier than he could have imagined.
He was truly surprised.
Staring at Harriet for a long while, Ellsworth finally looked away,
picked up his clothes in silence, and went to the bathroom.
A while later, when he came out after his shower, Harriet was
still lying on her side with her back to him. Ellsworth rubbed his
hair dry, and only after it was completely dry did he turn off the
main light and lie down beside Harriet.
A small bedside lamp was left on in the room. Ellsworth
glanced at Harriet, saw that she was still motionless with her
back to him, then turned on his side and pulled Harriet into his
arms.
