Chapter 74

Chapter74

Just then, Jolene finished her call and came back to report,

“Ms. Chavez, the OB-GYN appointment is set.”

Hearing Jolene’s report, the young woman finally realized

Harriet was serious. She pointed at Harriet and said, “Harriet,

this is Mr. Townsend’s child and mine. What right do you have

to get rid of it? Who gave you the nerve? This is…”

Before the woman could finish, Harriet turned and waved to the

security at the door, saying gently, “Could you come here for a

moment?”

The security guard jogged over, and Harriet instructed, “Go get

a car and bring two more people to accompany us.”

Soon after, Eileen was forcibly put into a car by several security

guards. No matter how much she shouted or cursed at Harriet,

Harriet paid her no mind and got into the car Jolene had

brought, heading to the hospital as well.

Kelsey was dumbfounded by Harriet’s series of actions.

Snapping out of it, she didn’t even bother with work, got in her

car, and followed them.

Half an hour later, when the doctor came out of the operating

room and removed his mask, he looked at Harriet and said

calmly, “Mrs. Townsend, Ms. Howard is not pregnant. It was all

a misunderstanding.”

As the doctor finished speaking, Eileen stormed out of the

operating room, her face full of anger and resentment.

She said, “Harriet, don’t get too smug. Just because I didn’t get

pregnant this time doesn’t mean I won’t next time.”

Listening to her, Harriet walked over unhurriedly, lifted Eileen’s

chin, and said coolly, “If you really do get pregnant next time,

remember to go straight to Ellsworth. If you come to me, I won’t

be any more merciful than he is.”

The woman shook off Harriet’s hand, snorted at her, then

pushed past and left with her people.

At the operating room door, Harriet turned to watch her leave,

raising her right hand to gently brush off the sleeve that had

been bumped.

Calm and unruffled.

Chapter 74

At this moment, Kelsey walked over and asked Harriet, “Hara, is this how you’ve gotten through the past three years?”

Harriet withdrew her gaze, turned to Kelsey, and gave her a

small smile without saying a word,

Afterward, she greeted the doctor and left. As she walked, she

told Jolene, “Jolene, tell the Ranton Group not to rush the

construction. Safety and quality come first. And for the

afternoon meeting, have Mr. Massey attend as well.”

Seeing Harriet’s composure, Kelsey suddenly realized that none

of them really knew Harriet at all.

Back at the Townsend Group, Kelsey went to Ellsworth’s office

and told him what had happened. She couldn’t help but remark,

“Ells, I really didn’t expect Hara to be so ruthless-she took the

woman straight to the hospital.”

“I was completely stunned at the time. We really don’t know

Hara at all,”

Sitting behind his desk, Ellsworth laughed and said, “Did you

think she spent three years as Mrs. Townsend for nothing?”

Seeing Ellsworth’s smile, Kelsey stared at him, sensing a hint of

pride and happiness in him.

Chapter 74

As he spoke, Ellsworth stood up and said, “I have to go out for a

bit. Take care of things here.”

As Ellsworth was about to leave, Kelsey quickly asked, “Ells, are

you free tonight? Let’s have dinner together.”

Ellsworth replied, “Not tonight. Maybe another day.”

After all, his wife had just handled such a big matter-he had to

go home tonight and praise her properly.

As for the child.

Impossible. Harriet never got pregnant with his child, so no

other woman could, either.

Watching Ellsworth leave, Kelsey felt a pang of disappointment.

It had been a long time since they had dinner alone.

He had been going home much more frequently lately.

After Ellsworth left, Kelsey wanted to ask Harriet out for dinner,

but Harriet had gone out as well, so Kelsey had to return to the

company by herself.

Nine o’clock in the evening.

Chapter 74

By the time Ellsworth returned from his social engagement, Harriet had already washed up and was getting ready for bed.

Seeing Ellsworth come in, she looked up at him and greeted

him coolly, “You’re back.”

Taking off his jacket and tossing it aside, Ellsworth unbuttoned

his shirt collar and rolled up his sleeves.

As he approached Harriet, he looked at her, smiled, and asked,

“I heard you got rid of my son today?”

Ellsworth looked like he was deliberately making trouble for her.

Harriet stared at him expressionlessly and said in a calm voice,

“Tell them not to come looking for me again.”

Unfazed by Harriet’s indifference, Ellsworth shoved his hands

into his pockets and moved closer to her.

She kept stepping back until her back pressed against the wall.

Harriet then looked up directly into Ellsworth’s eyes.
