Chapter 73
Chapter73
After the intense kiss, he gripped her chin and asked, “Harriet,
won’t you get angry? Won’t you yell at me? Don’t you have any
feelings?”
Harriet was baffled by Ellsworth’s anger.
She looked up at him for a moment, then removed his hand and
said, “It’s all in the past. It’s been over a year already.”
If she lost her temper, he would say she was being
unreasonable.
Even if she had feelings, so what? She would have to deal with
them herself. Rather than that, it was better to let go and move
Avoiding Ellsworth’s gaze, she remembered that she once
thought marrying him would give her someone to rely on, more
family, more companionship.
But she never expected that after marriage, she would feel even
lonelier-more so than being alone.
After Harriet’s few words, Ellsworth’s anger vanished

completely.
Standing up straight, he looked down at Harriet and let out a
laugh. “You’re right. If you don’t care, what temper or feelings
could you possibly have?”
She didn’t care about him?
When did she stop caring about him?
Maybe now, she really didn’t care anymore.
Faced with Ellsworth’s mocking laughter, Harriet had nothing to
say and didn’t bother to argue.
In the end, she said weakly, “Get some rest.”
With that, she got up, tidied the bed, and lay down herself.
Ellsworth walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window again.
Looking back, he saw Harriet lying there, not even saying a
word of reproach.
Ellsworth felt a pang in his heart.
At this moment, he truly realized that she really wanted a
divorce.
He stood there looking at Harriet for a long time before finally walking over and turning off the main light in the room.
In the dimly lit room, Ellsworth bent over beside Harriet, brushed
the stray hair from her forehead, and wanted to ask her who it
was that she cared about so much.
But in the end, he gave up on that thought.
That night, Ellsworth didn’t sleep at all.

The next day.
Harriet went to work as usual. Before she even reached the
company entrance, Kelsey came over, beaming from afar and calling out, “Hara!”
Harriet turned with a gentle smile and greeted her, “Kelsey.”
Beside them, Jolene also greeted politely, “Ms. Graham.”
As she approached, Kelsey grinned and said, “Back at the
Townsend Group again. By the way, Hara, I have a project on hand right now, and I was thinking…”
Before Kelsey could finish, another woman’s voice called out
Chapter 23
from behind them, “Ms. Chavez.”
The way she called Ms. Chavez was arrogant, her tone winding and layered.
Harriet turned around to see a woman with an air of arrogance,
dressed in a limited-edition dress, walking toward her and Kelsey, her gaze fixed intently on Harriet.
Next to the woman was a young girl, probably her assistant.
Harriet sized up the two calmly and asked, “And you are…? What do you want with me?”
The woman came up to Harriet, smiled, and introduced herself,
“Eileen Howard.”
Then, she got straight to the point: “I’m pregnant with Mr. Townsend’s child, so I came to talk to you.”
Ells’s child?
The woman’s bluntness left Kelsey, standing to the side, instantly shocked. Her face turned pale as she stared at the
woman without blinking.
Kelsey knew Ellsworth had been playing around these past few

years. After all, her sister was gone and he needed to vent his
emotions. But she never expected Ellsworth to be so careless,
to cause such trouble-it could affect their future.
Facing the woman, Harriet remained calm and unruffled,
showing no emotional reaction. She simply asked in a flat voice,
“How many months?”
The woman flipped her hair and replied unhurriedly, “Three
months. It’s a boy, already formed. Ms. Chavez, let’s find
somewhere to talk.”
Ignoring the woman, Harriet turned to Jolene and instructed
calmly, “Jolene, make an appointment with a doctor.”
“Yes, Ms. Chavez.”
Jolene agreed and immediately stepped aside to make a call on
her phone.
Seeing that Harriet showed no anger and even had her
assistant make a doctor’s appointment, the woman lost her
composure. Dropping her earlier nonchalance, she forced a
smile and asked, “Ms. Chavez, what do you mean by this?”
Harriet remained calm, looking at her evenly. “The doctor
should be available soon. Please cooperate and have the child

removed.”
Harriet said this lightly, causing the woman’s face to turn pale. For a moment, she was left speechless by Harriet’s retort.
Beside Harriet, Kelsey turned to look at her, even more shocked
than before.
At this moment, she never expected that the usually quiet and reserved Harriet could be even more composed than herself, and so ruthless-she didn’t even discuss it with Ellsworth, just told the woman to get rid of the child.
