Chapter 56
Chapter56
When the meeting ended, Reginald didn’t attend the organizer’s dinner. He felt such occasions were too commercial, too profit-
driven, and that these people didn’t understand technology, so
he invited Harriet to eat outside instead.
The two of them kept talking about professional topics.
Reginald said Harriet’s patent from back then was very valuable
and could be developed further, and Harriet said she was
planning to do just that.
For Reginald, there were no men or women in the world, only
those who understood technology and those who didn’t, only
those he could work with and those he couldn’t.
In his world, there was only work and research.

Meanwhile, over at the resort.
The banquet in the ballroom wasn’t over yet. Kelsey stayed by
Ellsworth’s side, meeting many people with him.
Although it was called a business conference, everyone was

really just talking business and cooperation.
“Ells, keep in touch when we get back.”
“No problem, Lamont.”
After socializing, Ellsworth held a half glass of red wine, but
hadn’t really drunk much all night.
With his left hand habitually in his pocket, Ellsworth scanned the ballroom but didn’t see any sign of Harriet.
She hadn’t come to dinner that night.
Reginald hadn’t come either.
“Mr. Townsend.”
It wasn’t until someone else came over to greet him that Ellsworth finally looked away, clinking glasses absentmindedly,
but still not drinking.
Later, he simply found an excuse and left early.
Suddenly, he found all the bustle rather meaningless, so he left
first.
Back in his room, he opened the door to find it empty, with no
sign of Harriet.
She still hadn’t come back.
The previous two nights at this time, she was already asleep.
Walking indifferently to the floor-to-ceiling window, he took the
remote from the cabinet and opened the curtains, then pulled
out a cigarette and lighter from his pocket and lit one for
himself.
Taking a deep first drag, he exhaled a perfect smoke ring.
Ellsworth took out his phone and scrolled for a while before
finally finding Harriet’s number.
Head down, brows furrowed, he slowly exhaled smoke rings,
In the end, he didn’t make the call.
He tossed the phone aside, bent down, stubbed out the
unfinished cigarette in the ashtray, and went to the bathroom to
shower.

Meanwhile, after dinner with Reginald, the two of them walked
for a while on the hotel’s back beach before Harriet finally

returned to her room.
When the elevator reached her floor, Harriet glanced at her
watch.
It was ten thirty. Ellsworth probably hadn’t come back yet.
However, when she opened the door with her key card, she
immediately saw Ellsworth coming out of the bathroom,
wrapped in a white towel around his waist.
He was shirtless, both handsome and sexy.
For a moment, Harriet was stunned.
At the same time, her face turned red.
Then, realizing Ellsworth was looking at her, Harriet snapped back to her senses, quickly looked away, and tried to act calm
as she asked, “Why are you back so early today?”
Ellsworth was toweling his hair, replying unhurriedly, “I may be
back early, but where did you go to have fun?”
Putting down her bag, Harriet glanced at Ellsworth again. Seeing his muscular chest, she felt embarrassed and looked
away, saying, “Put your clothes on first.”
Chodeck
Ellsworth was amused.
After laughing, he casually untied his towel in front of Harriet,
picked up the gray pajamas on the bed, and changed without at
care.
While changing, his eyes never left Harriet for a second.
Still, Reginald was known for his odd temper and rarely mingled
in social circles. Harriet was quite something.
Tying the belt of his pajamas, Ellsworth sat back on the sofa
with his legs spread in a dominant pose, then pulled the chair
next to him over, pointed at it with his chin, and looked at
Harriet, saying, “Sit.”
Seeing Ellsworth’s posture, Harriet thought he wanted to talk
about divorce,
It was about time, after all, he had promised to treat everyone
to a wedding banquet a few days ago.
With her eyes downcast, Harriet stared at Ellsworth for a while
before walking over and sitting down.
Ellsworth looked at Harriet with a calm gaze. She wasn’t
wearing much makeup, but she was still very beautiful.

Harriet thought Ellsworth was going to talk about divorce, but instead he asked, “Why are you back so late? Where did you
go?”
Ellsworth stared straight at her. Harriet met his gaze and replied
calmly, “Nowhere special. I had something to eat with a friend,
then took a walk on the hotel’s back beach.”
“You even took a walk?” Ellsworth laughed.
He let out a cold laugh.
After laughing, he reached for the cigarettes and lighter on the
coffee table.
Harriet glanced over and, seeing he was about to smoke,
couldn’t help but frown.
