Lines That Hit Hard: Important Quotes & Why They Matter

Several lines carry emotional weight, revealing hidden fears, desires, and vulnerabilities. These quotes serve as anchors that stay with the reader and deepen the impact of the scene.

Chapter33

“Is there something wrong with your health? If there is, go to

the hospital early. If not, let me hold a great-grandchild soon!”

Harriet didn’t need to complain; Tamera was well aware that

the problems in Harriet and Ellsworth’s marriage all stemmed

from Ellsworth.

So, she only questioned Ellsworth.

With both hands in his pockets, Ellsworth looked at Tamera

and replied lazily, “Isn’t Ken back? Grandma, if you want a

great-grandchild, ask Ken for one.”

Tamera’s face flushed red and then turned pale. Finally, she

pointed at him and scolded, “You useless brat! Ken is in the

army, he doesn’t even have a wife, and you want me to ask him

for a great-grandchild? Then what use are you to the

Townsend family? You can’t even have a child. Go to the

hospital and get checked out right away.”

It’s been three years. Others have already had two kids, and he

Chapter33

hasn’t even had one.

Useless.

Just as Tamera was fuming, Kathie came downstairs.

Seeing Tamera asking Ellsworth for a great-grandchild, Kathie

rolled her eyes at Ellsworth and said sarcastically, “Grandma,

you shouldn’t count on Ells for a great-grandchild. Not only

does he have physical problems, but he’s got issues in his head

too. You should have him get his brain checked first.”

At Kathie’s words, Tamera turned to look at her. “Kat, what do

you mean by that?”

Tamera was seventy-four this year, still energetic and spry, in

great health, and took good care of herself. She loved qipaos and

pearl jewelry, and sometimes even joined other elderly ladies in

fashion shows.

Now, her biggest wish was to hold a great-grandchild.

Unhurriedly coming downstairs, thinking about how Ellsworth

had left her and Harriet last night to find Kelsey, Kathie raised

her chin and rolled her eyes, saying, “My brother wants to divorce Hara for Kelsey, so Kelsey can be your granddaughter-

in-law.”

Chapter3

Divorce?

Tamera exploded at once, turning to Ellsworth and demanding,

“Ells, you want to divorce Hara?”

Before Ellsworth could answer, Tamera declared, “Ells, if you

want to divorce Hara, that’s impossible. If you want Kelsey to

marry in, that’s even more impossible. I advise you to give up

on that idea right now.”

She continued angrily, “What’s so good about Kelsey? Are you

out of your mind? Stop thinking about nonsense and hurry up

and have a child with Hara. Live your life with her properly!”

After Tamera’s barrage, Kathie glanced over indifferently,

noticing Ellsworth’s dark expression.

Kathie felt satisfied.

He hurt Hara first, so he shouldn’t expect to have an easy life

from now on.

As for the divorce, nowadays you don’t even need a birth

certificate; the two of them could just go and get it done.

But he shouldn’t think about blaming Hara for it anymore.

Chapter33

After Tamera’s outburst, Ellsworth sat lazily on the sofa with

his legs crossed, looking at Kathie and saying coldly, “So you’re

the only one with a mouth?”

Kathie shrugged it off: “If you dare to do it, don’t be afraid of me

talking about it.”

With that, Kathie walked over to Harriet.

Seeing this, Harriet tugged her arm, signaling her to stop

talking.

It wasn’t to protect Ellsworth, but because she was afraid

Raymond and Tamera would stop them from divorcing.

Kathie patted Harriet’s arm and said, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”

The Townsend’s mansion was huge, with the main villa

covering over 600 square meters. There were several buildings

in the backyard, and Raymond and Tamera usually lived in the

small two-story brick house at the back.

Kathie lived in the main building with her parents.

The courtyards between the buildings were filled with

towering trees and flowers, like little forests.

Chapter33

Especially the ginkgo trees in the central courtyard, lush and

green in spring and summer, turning a brilliant gold in autumn,

more stunning than any scenic spot.

Calling it a paradise in the city center was no exaggeration.

The spacious living room was mainly decorated in a vintage

style.

After scolding Ellsworth, Tamera turned to Harriet for

confirmation: “Hara, is what Kat said true? Ells wants to divorce

you?”

At Tamera’s question, Harriet explained, “Grandma, it wasn’t

Ellsworth who brought it up. We’re still discussing it.”

Hearing that they were still discussing, Tamera quickly

grabbed Harriet’s hand and urged her, “Hara, don’t listen to his

nonsense. Let your grandpa deal with him later. But you must

not get divorced, and definitely don’t let Kelsey have her way!”

Harriet forced a smile, not knowing what to say.

From the sofa, Ellsworth glanced at Harriet. Now, even in front

of his family, she called him by his full name.

So it was.

Chapter 31

As Tamera was holding Harriet and urging her not to divorce, Raymond and Kenneth entered the living room one after

another.
