Lines That Hit Hard: Important Quotes & Why They Matter

Helping Harriet sit at the table, Deloris kept cursing Ellsworth and the Graham family, and also told her a bit about Ralph, saying Ralph had been coughing lately.

Meanwhile, in the ward building next door.

Kelsey led Ellsworth into the hospital room, smiling as she said to Amiyah, who was sitting on the bed, “Grandma, Ells is here to

see you.”

On the bed, Amiyah straightened her back as soon as she saw Ellsworth come to visit, instantly looking much more energetic than before. She quickly reached out to Ellsworth and Kelsey, greeting them, “Ells and Kel are here.”

After greeting them, Amiyah blamed herself, saying, It’s all my fault for being in poor health and taking up your time.”

After her selfreproach, Amiyah turned to Alicia and instructed,

Alicia, hurry and get a chair for Ells, and pour him some tea.”

Alicia bustled about, moving a chair for Ellsworth and pouring

him tea.

Ellsworth didn’t take the tea or sit down, saying he’d been

sitting all day and preferred to stand and talk.

Seeing this, Amiyah didn’t insist he sit, but instead held his hand

and talked to him at length.

After a while of chattering, Amiyah sighed, At my age, my biggest worry is Kel. I hope she finds a good family and that her

husband treats her well.”

Ells, to be honest, our family has had it tough. Kel’s parents

started from scratch, both daughters have health issues, and

after Syl passed, I only have half a life left. I probably won’t last

two more years before I go join Syl.”

That would be good, to keep Syl company.”

Amiyah kept bringing up Sylvia, and Ellsworth’s expression grew

noticeably heavier.

Listening to Amiyah, Alicia spat a few times and said, Mom,

what nonsense are you talking about? It’s just a minor illness,

you’ll be out of the hospital soon.”

Amiyah frowned. I know my own health. You don’t need to

comfort me. Birth, aging, sickness, and death are part of life.

I’ve come to terms with it. The only thing I can’t let go of is Kel.

Please look after her more.”

Ellsworth didn’t say a word in response to Amiyah’s words.

At this point, Amiyah turned to Ellsworth and asked, Ells, I

heard you and Harriet are handling divorce proceedings. Does

that mean Grandma will get to see you marry Kel?”

If that’s the case, I’ll be at ease. When I see Syl, I’ll have

something to tell her.”

After Amiyah finished, Kelsey glanced at Ellsworth, seeing his

indifferent expression as he said the paperwork wasn’t done.

She quickly tried to smooth things over. Grandma, just focus

on getting better. You don’t need to worry about me and Ells.

We have our own plans.”

Amiyah said, I just want to see you two get together soon, to

see you married. Ells, you understand Grandma, right?”

Ellsworth smiled faintly and said nothing.

After staying in the room for a while, Ellsworth glanced at his

watch and said it was getting late, told Amiyah to rest early, and

took his leave.

When Kelsey and her mother walked Ellsworth downstairs,

Alicia said with some sadness, Ells, don’t blame Grandma for

pushing you. She really isn’t well, and she’s mentally prepared.

That’s why she wants to see you and Kel get married soon.”

Hearing Alicia, Ellsworth said, I understand.”

When they reached the building where Harriet was staying,

Ellsworth stopped and said to the two women, Auntie, let’s

stop here. I need to go keep Hara company.”

Alright, Ells, don’t overwork yourself. Get some rest.”

Okay.”

Kelsey said, See you tomorrow, Ells.”

Ellsworth gave the two of them a faint glance, then turned and

headed back to Harriet’s ward building.

When he got off the elevator on the orthopedics floor and

turned into the corridor, he saw Deloris coming out of Harriet’s

room carrying a lunchbox.

Seeing Deloris, Ellsworth greeted her first. Deloris.”

Chapter203

Seeing Ellsworth, Deloris’s face clearly showed displeasure. She

said sarcastically, So the young master is here. Running back

and forth between these two wards must be tiring. If you don’t

have time to visit my Miss, that’s fine.”

My Miss isn’t lacking for company or conversation. Mr. Leach

just called and said he’d arrange for someone to bring her food.

You should go take care of your future motherinlaw’s family.”

Oh, and you should hurry up and get the divorce paperwork

done with my Miss. You’ve already found your next match, but

don’t delay her finding hers.”

All these years, not only has Harriet suffered, but Deloris has

been angry just watching.

Today, finally getting the chance, she was determined to give

Ellsworth a good scolding.

So what if he’s the chairman of the Townsend Group? So what

if he’s the heir to the Townsend family? That doesn’t give him

the right to bully people like this.
