It was a call from Ellsworth.
Seeing the incoming call, Harriet still answered it.
She didn’t have the habit of ignoring calls.
Once the call connected, Ellsworth’s voice came through:
“Come back to the Townsend’s mansion for dinner. I’ll come
pick you up.”
Looking at her thesis on the computer, Harriet replied calmly,
“I’m working overtime. You go back by yourself.”
She added, “You don’t need to ask me to come back for dinner

Everyone already knew they were getting divorced. If she kept going back to eat with him, it would only give the grandparents false hope.
She had never considered reconciling with Ellsworth. When she handed him the agreement, there was no turning back.
So, she wouldn’t go back to disturb Raymond and Tamera.
With that, she said gently, “I’m in the middle of a good train of thought for my thesis, so I won’t chat with you. I’ll hang up
now.”
As soon as she finished speaking, without waiting for
Ellsworth’s response, Harriet hung up the phone.
She wasn’t lying–the thesis was going well, and she didn’t want
to be interrupted.
So, she hung up, put down her phone, and continued typing
away at the keyboard.
In the black Maybach, seeing that Harriet had hung up on him,
Ellsworth tossed his phone onto the passenger seat.

With Harriet’s stubborn temper, he was almost at his wit’s end.
He picked up a cigarette and lighter from the side, lit one for
himself, took a slow drag, then exhaled the smoke, opened the
window, and flicked the ash outside.
Retracting his hand holding the cigarette, he stepped on the gas
and started the car, heading back to the office.
Not long after Ellsworth returned to the office, Kelsey came to
see him after finishing the Ventura Tech exhibition.
She had mentioned this to Ellsworth a few days ago. Although
Ellsworth said he didn’t have time, she still told him to wait for
her at the exhibition.
She had also sent him a reminder message in the morning.
She thought he would at least show up and support her a little.
However, Ellsworth never showed up from start to finish.
So after leaving the tech exhibition, she came to find him.
At his desk, Ellsworth looked up and glanced at Kelsey, then
withdrew his gaze and continued working.
Kelsey pulled out the chair across from Ellsworth and sat down,

asking softly, “Ells, why didn’t you come today? Mr. Todd waited for you all day and was quite disappointed in the end.”
As Kelsey reported, Ellsworth didn’t look up. He continued
signing documents and asked her unhurriedly, “Why would I care about Mr. Todd feelings?”
He put extra emphasis on the words “Mr. Todd.”
Kelsey looked embarrassed and quickly forced a smile to explain, “That’s not what I meant. I just thought it wouldn’t take much time to stop by.”
When Kelsey mentioned time, Ellsworth finally looked up at her
and said nonchalantly, “Kelsey, I’ve reminded you before: I won’t
get involved in anything that opposes Harriet’s work.”
Hearing this, Kelsey’s expression visibly stiffened.
Harriet again.
Why is everything always about Harriet? Why is she always involved in everything?
She was clearly so unremarkable.
The only reason she could go to Galaxy Innovations was

Kelsey stared at Ellsworth for a while without moving, then smiled faintly and said, “It’s just a tech exhibition. It shouldn’t be in opposition to Hara’s work.”
She had always looked down on Harriet, thinking she was just Kathie’s sidekick, always scheming to climb up the Townsend family, so Ellsworth only treated her as a joke and never
respected her.
Now, she found herself disliking Harriet more and more,
thinking she was too calculating.

But Ellsworth… just couldn’t see it.
After Kelsey finished speaking, Ellsworth didn’t look up at her
again, nor did he respond, simply flipping through the documents in his hand as if nothing had happened.
