Amid the crowd’s banter, Grayson, sitting next to Harriet, 

chuckled and said disdainfully, “She’s fit to be the 

spokesperson for a high–tech symposium? What a joke.” 

Harriet said nothing, simply continuing to flip through the 

meeting materials as if nothing had happened. 

Beside her, Jonas whispered, “Let it go, it’s just for show. No 

need to take it seriously.” 

Many hands make light work–this kind of thing was common. 

But if you really wanted to make money in this industry, or 

achieve something, you needed real skills. 

You needed real technology. 

Jonas and Grayson whispered to each other, while Harriet didn’t 

get too involved. 

The key was, she just wasn’t that interested in Kelsey. 

Soon, the meeting officially began. 

Besides the entrepreneurs, some city officials also attended.

Several important leaders gave speeches, and Kelsey delivered 

a brief opening speech on behalf of the companies. 

However… Vicente did not attend today.

ended.

“Ms. Graham, don’t leave yet. You must join us for lunch.” 

Holding her phone, Kelsey smiled and said, “I have plans with 

Ells for lunch. Let me call him and see if he’ll join us.”

joked with a smile, “Ms. Graham and Mr. Townsend are 

inseparable, huh? But with such a good match, of course they 

have plenty to talk about.” 

“That’s right. Ms. Graham and Mr. Townsend are a perfect 

couple–talented and beautiful. Edgar is truly blessed.”

Amid the compliments, Kelsey smiled and said, “Thank you all 

for your kindness. I’ll call Ells now.” 

After calling Ellsworth, she stopped Harriet, who was about to 

leave, and said, “Hara, everyone wants to have lunch together. 

Why don’t you join us?” 

Harriet looked over and replied, “I still have work at the 

company, so I won’t be joining you.” 

Before Kelsey could say anything else, Grayson cut in, “Mr. 

Zuniga and I need to go to the lab, so we won’t join Ms. 

Graham’s gathering.” 

With that, the three from Galaxy Innovations left first, not 

joining the others. 

Grayson and Jonas really did have business in the lab, so they 

parted ways with Harriet downstairs. 

Harriet took a taxi back to the company by herself. 

With her bag slung over her shoulder and her phone in hand, 

Harriet stood by the roadside waiting for a ride. 

It was hard to get a car at noon, so she moved under the shade of a tree, using a folder to shield her head from the sun. 

After waiting several minutes, a car suddenly pulled up in front 

of her. 

Harriet looked over–it wasn’t a rideshare car. 

Then the car door opened, and Vicente’s face appeared. He said softly, “Ms. Chavez, are you waiting for a ride? Get in, I’ll 

give you a lift.” 

Lowering her gaze to look at Vicente in the back seat of the car, 

Harriet said, “Thank you, Mr. Leach, but I’ve already called a 

cab.” 

Vicente replied, “It’s not easy to get a cab here. Get in.” 

With the files blocking the space above her head, Harriet 

glanced around and saw that indeed no other cars were 

coming. She had no choice but to say, “Thank you, Mr. Leach.” 

After speaking, she opened the front passenger door, only to 

see several neatly stacked documents on the seat. 

At that moment, Vicente’s gentle voice came again: “Sit in the 

back.”

Workplace documents shouldn’t be touched casually, let alone 

Vicente’s files. 

So Harriet had to close the passenger door and bend down to 

sit in the back seat. 

The back door had been left open the whole time, and it was 

only after Harriet got in that she closed it herself. 

It seemed as if the open door had been left for her. 

As the car started smoothly, Harriet glanced at Vicente and 

said, “Sorry to take up your time, Mr. Leach.” 

Vicente smiled, “It’s fine. I don’t have anything else at the 

moment.” 

The straight road was lined with lush camphor trees on both 

sides. The bright sunlight filtered through the gaps in the 

branches, or shone directly between the trees, making the 

summer seem not so hot. 

There was even a rare sense of leisure. 

Seeing that Harriet was sitting quietly without speaking, Vicente took the initiative to chat with her: “Ms. Chavez, are you here for 

a meeting?”
