While Harriet was waiting at the door for Reginald to bring the
car around, Kelsey’s bright voice suddenly called out from
behind her.
Harriet turned to look and saw Kelsey and Ellsworth walking
toward the entrance together.
Seeing the two of them, Harriet remained calm and greeted
them lightly: “Kelsey.”
She called her Kelsey because they’d known each other since
childhood, and since Kelsey was a few years older, it was a
matter of courtesy.
People of good breeding always have to bear more.
Standing nearby, seeing Kelsey and Harriet greet each other,
Vicente looked at Harriet and asked softly, “Ms. Chavez, do you
also know Ells and Ms. Graham?”
Vicente’s voice was calm and unhurried, yet carried a certain

enthusiastically, “Hara, I really didn’t expect to see you here
today.”

While Harriet responded coolly, Ellsworth kept his eyes on her.
Seeing this, Vicente smiled and said, “Since you all know each
other, let’s meet up privately next time.”
Kelsey quickly nodded in agreement.
At that moment, Reginald pulled up with the car, so Harriet

I’ll be leaving now. Goodbye.”
At the sound of Mr. Townsend from Harriet, Ellsworth
immediately looked up.

down the steps.
When they reached Reginald’s car, Harriet turned to thank
Vicente for his hospitality that evening.

Although Vicente had been helping Alvin see off guests, he only
escorted Harriet down the steps and only opened the car door
for her.

It was past eleven when Harriet returned home. Just as she
was about to enter the house, Ellsworth came out of the master
bedroom.
Seeing Ellsworth at home, Harriet greeted him nonchalantly:
“You’re back.”
Looking at Harriet coolly, Ellsworth asked, “You know Sir Leach
too?”
Harriet replied, “Sir Leach is the technical advisor for Galaxy

Innovations. Mr. Barton took me to visit him not long ago.”
With that, Ellsworth understood.
Looking down at Harriet, he added, “Grandpa’s old leg problem
is acting up again. Let’s go visit him together tomorrow.”
Harriet nodded. “Okay.”
Since she and Ellsworth hadn’t finalized the paperwork yet, she
knew she should attend to these formalities.
Besides, their grandfathers were still on very good terms.
Harriet’s polite and detached manner had already completely
separated her from the identity of Mrs. Townsend.
Even seeing Ellsworth and Kelsey together, she felt nothing and
didn’t ask him a single question.
Ellsworth was still looking down at her, but Harriet said, “It’s
getting late. I’ll go rest now. You should get some rest too.”
With that, Harriet opened the door and went back to her
bedroom first.
Hands in his pockets, Ellsworth turned to watch Harriet, only to
see her close the door behind her without looking back.

night before.
Harriet walked up to the right rear door. Finding it unlocked, she
opened it and got in.
Ever since she had asked Ellsworth if he liked her, Harriet had grown even more distant and polite with him, speaking even
less.
The car drove on, while Harriet rested her cheek on her hand, gazing out the window, her mood calm and indifferent.
Occasionally, Ellsworth glanced at her in the rearview mirror. Seeing her so silent and unruffled, he recalled many things from the past, including the way she quietly played chess.
