On the way home, Kathie called to ask if she’d eaten and when 

she’d be back. 

Harriet said she was on her way home. Kathie said she’d wait 

for her, then changed the subject: “By the way, Hara, Kelsey 

wants to work with Ventura Tech. She’s been trying to get my 

brother involved, and I even heard her call him this afternoon.” 

“Keep an eye on this. If possible, don’t let my brother get 

involved. Otherwise, it won’t be good for you or Galaxy 

Innovations.” 

With both hands on the wheel, Harriet’s brow furrowed slightly. 

Was Ellsworth going to get involved in this too? 

Thinking it over, Harriet said, “Okay, I understand. I’ll be careful.” 

After Harriet finished speaking, Kathie reminded her, “The 

company already has people coordinating with Kelsey on this. 

Just keep an eye on it. I feel like she’s targeting you.” 

Harriet nodded, “Mm, I’ll definitely pay more attention. Thanks 

for the heads–up, Kat.”

On the other end of the line, Kathie said, “Hey, no need to be so 

polite with me. Hurry back, I’ll go downstairs and heat up your 

food.” 

Harriet laughed and said, “Okay.” 

With that, Harriet hung up and sped up a little. 

Soon, she parked the car in the yard, got out, and went inside. 

Opening the front door, she expected to see Kathie in the living 

room, but instead, Ellsworth was just coming down from the 

second floor. 

Seeing her return, he greeted her in a calm voice, “You’re back.” 

Her face had just been relaxed, but seeing Ellsworth, Harriet 

returned to her usual calmness with him and replied in a flat 

tone, “Yes, I’m back.” 

After changing her shoes and entering, Harriet looked around 

the house but didn’t see any sign of Kathie. 

Seeing this, Ellsworth said slowly, “No need to look. Kat was 

called to the backyard by Grandpa. She left your food heated up 

on the table.”

“Oh.” Harriet responded blandly and headed to the dining room. 

When she sat down at the table, she noticed a laptop placed 

beside her. 

Ellsworth came over too–the laptop was his. 

Just as Harriet was about to eat, Ellsworth poured her a glass 

of freshly squeezed juice and set it gently beside her. 

Looking up at Ellsworth, Harriet said softly, “Thank you.” 

All the servants were resting in the backyard, so the spacious 

living and dining rooms were left with just her and Ellsworth, 

making it feel especially quiet. 

As Harriet drank her juice and ate in silence, Ellsworth sat at his 

computer, working. 

He typed on the keyboard with a steady rhythm. 

Her gaze fell on him. He looked at her and asked emotionlessly, 

“Why aren’t you eating the dishes? Don’t you like them?” 

Harriet shook her head. “No.” 

After saying that, she picked up a piece of rib and put it in her 

bowl, then suddenly looked up at Ellsworth and asked,

Ventura Tech?” 

She never thought she could sway Ellsworth’s opinion; she just 

wanted to confirm whether he would cooperate.

matters with him, nor report too much to him.

decided yet, I’m still considering it.”

Ellsworth thought Harriet wanted to have a proper talk with him 

about this, to remind him that he was the investor in Galaxy

But instead, Harriet didn’t look at him again, nor did she speak; 

she just quietly lowered her head and ate. 

He stared at Harriet for quite a while, until his phone, placed

beside the computer, rang. Ellsworth snapped back to reality, picked up his phone, and went to the side to answer it. 

A short while later, when he returned from taking the call in the 

small sitting room, the dining table had already been cleared, 

and Harriet was gone. 

With both hands in his pockets, eyes lowered, Ellsworth stared 

at the spot where Harriet had just been sitting for a moment, 

then chuckled softly. 

She is… truly polite now.

to the backyard to look for Kathie. 

It turned out that it was Tamera who had called Kathie over, 

asking her to teach her how to use a smartphone. 

Seeing Harriet approach, Tamera greeted her with a big smile, 

“Hara, back from overtime? Have you eaten?” 

Harriet smiled and replied, “Grandma, I just ate. Kat heated up 

the food for me.”
