Dressed in a royal blue cheongsam, Tamera walked over, took Harriet’s arm, then bent down to Harriet’s belly and asked 

kindly, “Hara, it’s been so long–my great–grandchild should be on 

the way by now, right?” 

Harriet looked embarrassed, supporting Tamera as she softly 

replied, “Grandma, not yet.” 

She wanted to explain things clearly to Raymond and Tamera, 

but the timing felt too abrupt. 

This matter would have to be brought up by Ellsworth first, and 

then she would play along. 

As Harriet helped Tamera stand up straight, Ellsworth happened to come downstairs. 

Seeing this, Tamera frowned and scolded him sternly, “Ells, you’ve been married to Hara for three years now. Why is there still no news? Is there something wrong with you? If so, go get 

checked at the hospital. Don’t just look tall and strong but be 

useless when it matters.”

Tamera was furious, but Ellsworth just put his hands in his 

pockets and replied carelessly, “I told you, you’ll have a grandchild next year. What’s the rush?” 

Ellsworth’s indifference made Harriet glance at him, but she 

said nothing. 

In fact, it wouldn’t be hard for Raymond and Tamera to have a 

great–grandchild. After all, there were plenty of women lining up 

to have Ellsworth’s child. When they divorced, if Ellsworth could 

bring them the news of a great–grandchild- 

Raymond and Tamera probably wouldn’t be too upset; the 

arrival of a great–grandchild would heal them. 

As for her divorce from Ellsworth, Harriet had already thought 

through how to minimize the impact for him. 

At that moment, Patsy came out of the kitchen. Seeing Tamera 

lecturing Ellsworth, she tried to smooth things over: “Mom, if 

Ells promised you, he’ll get it done. Don’t nag them about it

As Patsy called everyone to eat, Harriet was escorting Tamera to the dining room when her phone suddenly rang in her pocket. 

Hearing the vibration, Harriet told Tamera she needed to take a 

call, then stepped aside to answer her phone. 

It was a call from Reginald. 

Standing by the floor–to–ceiling window in the small sitting 

room, Harriet answered the call with a bright smile on her face, 

her voice gentle and warm. 

In the dining room, Ellsworth watched Harriet with a calm 

expression. 

These days, when Harriet was with him, she rarely smiled so freely or seemed as relaxed as before. She was always polite, 

and divorce felt inevitable.

Nearby, with Kathie and Tamera chatting noisily, Ellsworth 

thought about the legal team sorting out the assets, about the 

upcoming procedures, and about Harriet’s unwavering 

determination to leave. He quietly looked away, served himself a bowl of soup, and placed it on the empty seat beside him. 

Soon after, Harriet finished her call and came over to eat. 

Although she was seated next to Ellsworth, she didn’t speak to 

him, nor did she even look at him directly. 

It was as if… Ellsworth were nothing but air. 

After the meal, Harriet went to the backyard to help Kathie tend to her roses, while Ellsworth played chess with Raymond. 

Sitting across from each other at the chess table, Raymond moved his knight and said, “What’s going on between you and Hara? I can see there’s nothing left of you in her eyes.” 

“Ells, you agreed to this marriage yourself back then. I’ve been friends with Ralph for years–don’t make me lose face in front of him, don’t disgrace me.” 

“As for Kelsey, I’ll have her sent abroad. You shouldn’t see her 

anymore.”

Raymond threatened to deal with Kelsey, but Ellsworth barely reacted. He simply captured one of Raymond’s pawns and said, 

“Harriet and I aren’t right for each other. We’re planning to get 

the paperwork done.” 

Hearing this, Raymond looked up sharply. “What? Say that 

again.” 

Ellsworth’s offhand tone made Raymond wonder if his hearing was failing with age, so he looked up at him. 

Ellsworth replied unhurriedly, “Harriet and I are planning to get a 

divorce.” 

With Ellsworth’s firm answer, Raymond immediately picked up the phone to call his subordinate: “Go find the Graham family’s granddaughter and invite her…” 

Before Raymond could finish, Ellsworth reached out and took his phone away. “This has nothing to do with anyone else. It’s between Harriet and me.” 

As Ellsworth snatched his phone, Raymond’s face turned pale. He grabbed his cane and swung it at Ellsworth: “Nothing to do with anyone else? I think you’re the one to blame here.”
