Chapter133
Johnathan found it amusing. He picked up a cigarette and lighter from the table and lit one for himself.
He took a drag and said with a laugh, “Alright, I’ll stop teasing you.”
At this, Darrick looked up at Ellsworth, his expression a bit serious. “Ells, your relationship with Kelsey really hurts Hara.”
Kelsey’s Instagram today, and the Graham family calling
Ellsworth their son–in–law, had already caused a stir in their
circle. Someone was even spreading rumors that Ellsworth and
Harriet were already getting divorced.
They said Harriet was the one dragging her feet, refusing to
divorce.
Johnathan and Darrick had both heard the gossip that
afternoon, and even their elders at home had come to ask them
for details.
So, seeing Ellsworth now, Darrick couldn’t help but say a few
words.

Smoking, Ellsworth glanced indifferently at Johnathan and
Darrick and said in a flat voice, “I’ve already asked Legal to draft
the agreement.”
At Ellsworth’s words, Johnathan and Darrick just looked at him
in silence.
It had come to this, after all.
Lazily holding his glass, Johnathan stared at Ellsworth for a
while before asking with a smile, “What made you change your
mind all of a sudden?”
The last couple of times, he had said he never thought about
divorce.
Looks like he still couldn’t let go of Kelsey–she was more
important.
Exhaling a long, slow stream of smoke, Ellsworth said quietly, “If
this goes on, if I don’t go crazy, she will.”

Even now, thinking of Harriet’s despair and silent resistance,
Ellsworth still felt a sting in his heart.
He still felt suffocated.
Chapter 133
Ellsworth’s quiet helplessness left Johnathan and Darrick silent
as well.
Darrick, who usually didn’t smoke, reached for the pack, took
one out, and lit it for himself.
He took a drag and immediately choked.
After coughing lightly, he asked, “When you agreed to marry for
your grandfather, you seemed pretty happy. Did you ever like
Hara?”
Ellsworth laughed at Darrick’s question. “I watched her grow up, and she was always hanging out with Kathie. Where’s the room
for all that ‘liking‘ or not?”
At this, Ellsworth tapped his cigarette in the ashtray again. “When I agreed to the marriage, I really did want to take care of
her. It’s just…”
He trailed off, thinking for a moment, but didn’t finish his
sentence.
Darrick thought for a moment and analyzed, “With feelings like that, you should have fallen in love after marriage. So how did things with Hara end up like this?”
Ellsworth just smiled indifferently. “Who knows.”
With that, he draped his arms lazily over the back of the sofa,
leaned his head back, and stared at the ceiling.
The dazzling lights were a bit harsh. Ellsworth smoked, exhaled
a long plume, and said nothing more.
Even to Darrick and Johnathan, he never mentioned Harriet’s
diary, or that he’d discovered her secret.
Men, after all, have their pride.
Seeing Ellsworth so dejected, Johnathan patted his arm and
said, “Come on, you got what you wanted. Now you can be with
Kelsey, and you’re letting Hara go too. Double happiness–cheer
up, will you?”
At Johnathan’s attempt to comfort him, Ellsworth turned his
head and gave him a cold look.
How could a perfectly good person have such a mouth?

After a while at the bar, when they left, Ellsworth didn’t go back
to the Chavez’s mansion, nor to Auburn Heights or any of his
other houses. Instead, he checked into a hotel.

The next evening.
A little after nine, Harriet had just finished her shower and was folding clothes when the bedroom door opened.
Hearing the sound, she turned her head and saw that Ellsworth had come back.
Harriet was a little surprised.
She had thought that after settling the divorce yesterday, he wouldn’t come back anymore.
After the initial surprise, she continued folding clothes as if nothing had happened and said, “Mom came by this afternoon and brought a lot of things.”
Harriet didn’t tell him that what Patsy brought were all tonics: most of them for Ellsworth’s health, as she was helping them prepare for pregnancy.
Listening to Harriet’s report, Ellsworth just responded with a
faint “Mm.”
Seeing this, Harriet said nothing more and turned back to

folding clothes.
The room was very quiet, the lighting making the atmosphere especially warm. Watching Harriet busy herself, Ellsworth thought of the past.
Back then, when she played in his room, she would always tidy it up for him and fold his clothes.
It seemed… nothing had really changed.
He felt a bit tired.
Ellsworth walked up behind Harriet and, raising both hands,
hugged her from behind.
