Chapter122
Chapter122
Kathie, on the other hand, rolled her eyes at Kelsey, not giving
her any face at all.
At that moment, Darrick stood up and gave his seat to Kathie,
inviting her to join the table.
Once Kathie sat down, Ellsworth finally glanced at the two of
them, then greeted Harriet in a calm voice: “No overtime
tonight?”
Hearing Ellsworth’s greeting, Harriet replied with a faint ‘mm’
and then sat down next to Kathie.
Although the card game was lively, Johnathan worried Harriet
would be bored sitting by, so he had the staff bring over plenty
of food and drinks, and called Harriet over to a small tea table
to chat.
Their conversation revolved around Harriet’s work.
Back at the card table, whenever Ellsworth glanced at Harriet
and saw her chatting happily with Johnathan, her eyes curving like crescent moons as she smiled, he couldn’t help but get

distracted.
Such a radiant smile from Harriet used to belong to him alone.
But now, no matter who Harriet smiled at like that, she would
never smile at him again.
As soon as Ellsworth got distracted, Kathie seized the
opportunity and won several rounds in a row, grinning from ear
to ear, overjoyed.
At the small tea table, just as Harriet and Johnathan were
engrossed in conversation, Harriet’s phone on the table
suddenly rang.
She picked it up and saw it was a call from Jonas.
Seeing this, Harriet said to Johnathan, “Mr. Burton, I need to
step out to take a call.”
With that, Harriet got up with her phone and went outside to
answer.
It wasn’t anything major; Jonas just wanted her advice on
calculating a few sets of data.
After finishing the calculations and hanging up, Harriet turned

around to head back to the suite, only to see Kelsey coming out as well, smiling as she greeted her: “Hara.”
Harriet responded politely, “Kelsey.”
Hearing Harriet call her by name, Kelsey approached with a
smile and said, “Hara, I’m sorry about the other day. I didn’t
think things through at the time. I was too impulsive when I
asked you for help and said those things. I owe you an
apology.”
To Kelsey’s apology, Harriet replied in a calm voice, “It’s fine. I
didn’t help anyway.”
At this, Kelsey continued, “I was just too single-minded a few
days ago, only thinking about getting the project signed. So I
wanted to fight for it. But after hearing what you said that day,
-Hara, I suddenly realized I really can’t make things difficult for
Ells, can’t let him give up working with Galaxy Innovations just
because of me.”
“So, I’ve already told Ells that Rushtar Group is withdrawing from the project. I wanted to thank you, Hara, for reminding
me.”
In the corridor, the yellow lighting wasn’t very bright, casting an even glow over both of them, making them seem evenly

matched.
Kelsey appeared even more poised and unassailable.
Listening to her polite words, Harriet gave a faint smile and
said, “It’s nothing.”
Then she added, “Kelsey, if you don’t have anything else, I’ll
head back to the suite.”
Kelsey replied, “I’m good. Let’s go in together.”
With that, Kelsey and Harriet returned to the suite together.
It wasn’t until midnight, when Ellsworth saw Harriet dozing off
at the small tea table, that he finally called it a night and ended
the game.
Afterward, Kathie stretched and started counting her money, saying she had lost tonight.
Seeing her act like a little money-grubber, Ellsworth gave her all the cash from his drawer-nearly twenty thousand.
Taking the money Ellsworth handed her, Kathie immediately brightened up and said with a smile, “Thanks, Ells!”
Ellsworth said nothing in response to Kathie’s thanks, simply
Chapter122
striding over toward the tea table.
With both hands in his pockets, he looked down at Harriet, watching her head sway from side to side before suddenly nodding forward. Instinctively, Ellsworth pulled his right hand
from his pocket and caught Harriet’s chin.
Behind him, Kelsey watched Ellsworth’s quick reaction. Her
steps toward him halted instantly.
She just stood there, watching him.
Her expression gradually dimmed as she realized that lately,
Ellsworth seemed to care a lot about Harriet.
Not just about coming home, but in other ways too.
At the tea table, when Ellsworth suddenly supported her chin,
Harriet woke up from her drowsiness.
She opened her eyes and looked up, seeing Ellsworth standing
in front of her. In a lazy voice, she asked, “You’re done playing?”
She hadn’t yet realized that Ellsworth was holding her chin.
Seeing Harriet open her eyes, Ellsworth withdrew his hand,
casually putting it back in his pocket, and said softly, “Yeah, it’s

over.”
Hearing that the game was over, Harriet stood up from her chair
and walked over to Kathie.
Ellsworth watched her go, glancing back at her.
