Chapter105Â
Chapter105Â
As soon as Harriet finished speaking, Ellsworth scooped her upÂ
from the chair.Â
Startled, Harriet grabbed his shirt with both hands. “Ellsworth,Â
what are you doing?”Â
Ellsworth tossed Harriet onto the bed-not too hard, not too soft-Â
trapping her in his arms and asked with a laugh, “It’s late atÂ
night. What do you think I want to do?”Â
Earlier at Galaxy Innovations, some of the old employees hadÂ
asked him if Harriet was his wife, saying the young lady wasÂ
very impressive for her age. At that moment, he just wanted toÂ
be alone with her, to make her his.Â
But he had to work then, so he held back.Â
As Harriet tried to push herself up from the bed, EllsworthÂ
grabbed her hands and pressed her back down.Â
Harriet struggled a few times, but still couldn’t break free.Â
When Ellsworth leaned down to kiss her, Harriet frowned andÂ
turned her face away.Â
Chapter105Â
Seeing Harriet’s reluctance, Ellsworth didn’t continue. He justÂ
looked at her.Â
After staring at Harriet for a while, Ellsworth got up from her.Â
Then, without a word, he walked to the floor-to-ceiling window,Â
picked up a cigarette and lighter from the cabinet, and lit aÂ
cigarette for himself.Â
Smoke rings accompanied his exhaled breath as EllsworthÂ
turned around, tapped the ash into the tray on the side cabinet,Â
and looked at Harriet, explaining in a calm voice, “Kelsey can’tÂ
affect your position as Mrs. Townsend.”Â
Even though Harriet hadn’t said anything, Ellsworth wasn’tÂ
stupid. He knew exactly what he’d done.Â
Her position?Â
Getting up from the bed, Harriet couldn’t be bothered to explain further and said directly, “I don’t want to be Mrs. TownsendÂ
anymore. I’m still determined to get a divorce.”Â
At Harriet’s attitude, Ellsworth just looked at her.Â
Meeting Ellsworth’s gaze, Harriet didn’t back down andÂ
continued, “The resignation issue shouldn’t have any moreÂ
Chapter 105Â
impact. Once things die down, before we go through theÂ
formalities, it should be fine to make an announcement inÂ
advance.”Â
“It’s just that, for the sake of the company’s stock stability, itÂ
would be better for you and Kelsey to wait a year or so beforeÂ
getting married. By then, it should be fine.”Â
She’d even thought about him marrying Kelsey. EllsworthÂ
walked over to the coffee table, stubbed out his half-smokedÂ
cigarette in the ashtray, and just looked at Harriet withoutÂ
saying a word.Â
He had thought that after the stock incident, their relationshipÂ
would have eased, and that she wouldn’t bring up divorce again.Â
Staring at Harriet for a long time, seeing her quietly sit backÂ
down at the desk, Ellsworth said, “I’m going out. Get some restÂ
early.”Â
Harriet didn’t look at him, kept her eyes on the computer, andÂ
replied coolly, “Okay,”Â
It wasn’t until she heard the door close-not too hard, not tooÂ
soft-that Harriet finally turned to look at the doorway, staring forÂ
a long, long time.Â
Chapter 105Â
***Â
He drove away from Auburn Heights.Â
Ellsworth didn’t go to Kelsey, but called Johnathan out for aÂ
drink.Â
At the bar.Â
By the time Johnathan arrived, Ellsworth was already there.Â
Walking up to the table and looking at Ellsworth, JohnathanÂ
said with disdain, “You had another fight with Hara, didn’t you? |Â
really didn’t want to come out and keep you company.”Â
It’s been three years. How many times had he tried to talkÂ
sense into him?Â
Had he ever listened?Â
Picking up the glass on the table and downing half of it in oneÂ
gulp, Ellsworth said carelessly, “Who said I fought with her?”Â
Johnathan sat down on the sofa beside him and said lazily,Â
“True, you don’t even go home. You don’t give Hara a chance toÂ
vent. You’re just playing the cold war.”Â
After speaking, Johnathan called over a waiter and ordered aÂ
Chapter 105Â
fresh juice for himself.Â
Ellsworth looked up at him and said, “Trying to be healthy lately,Â
not drinking alcohol.”Â
Ellsworth rolled his eyes at him, not bothering to respond.Â
When the waiter brought the juice, Johnathan took a sip, lookedÂ
at Ellsworth, and asked, “Did you take Kelsey to GalaxyÂ
Innovations today?”Â
When Ellsworth got involved in this, Johnathan already felt itÂ
wasn’t a good sign.Â
The key was, a lot of what Ellsworth did really disrespectedÂ
Harriet and didn’t give her any face. Even as his brothers, theyÂ
couldn’t stand to watch.Â
At Johnathan’s question, Ellsworth took a sip of his drink andÂ
replied unhurriedly, “Kelsey couldn’t secure the GalaxyÂ
Innovations project. I didn’t go there just for the Graham family.Â
Reginald’s project really does have potential.”Â
Johnathan said, “But that’s not how it looks. Besides, ifÂ
Reginald really chooses to work with you, would you really leaveÂ
the Graham family out of it?”Â
Chapter 105Â
After Johnathan finished, Ellsworth fell silent.Â
