Chapter 24
The fleeting softness on his lips made Scott’s heart skip a beat, like a feather brushing against his heart.
He froze, the earlier fear and unease melting away, replaced by sweetness.
Scott smiled faintly. “It’s nothing.”
Noticing fewer customers around, he gently tilted Pamela’s chin toward him.
His voice low and husky, he murmured, “That was too quick. Let’s try again.”
Then he kissed her slightly pale lips.
Scott felt Pamela tense for a moment before releasing her after a tender kiss.
He’d waited years for this.
Ever since realizing his feelings, he’d wanted to do exactly this…
Back at their hotel that night, freshly showered and lying in bed, their exhaustion washed away.
Scott held Pamela as they gazed through the floor-to-ceiling windows at the moonlit beach.
Suddenly, he released her, pulling a ring box from beneath the pillow and hiding it behind his back.
Feeling his movement, Pamela turned curiously. “What is it?”
Without answering, Scott revealed the open box-a dazzling diamond ring catching her eyes.
His heart pounded like a drum, nervousness trembling in his voice.
“Will you… spend every future day with me in Blood Pack?”
Outside, waves rose and fell, mingling with wind chimes in the breeze.
Scott watched tears well in Pamela’s eyes.
The next instant, she flung herself into his arms.
Her muffled yet joyful voice answered, “Of course I will!”
Scott’s nose tingled with emotion as he held her like treasure, his heartbeat drumming against his ribs.
Seventeen years they’d spent in mutual, open secret.
Ten more lost to regret and missed chances.

Chapter 24
Now at twenty-seven, Scott and Pamela finally had their happy ending…
After their brief getaway, work called them back to Blood Pack.
When Scott brought Ginger Tabby home from the cattery, Pamela instantly chose the cat over him.
Rubbing his temples in mock exasperation, he complained, “Ditching me that fast?”
Pamela glanced up distractedly. “Never! I’d always pick you.”
But she stayed rooted, playing with Ginger Tabby.
Though grumbling, Scott’s smile betrayed his joy.
Since the proposal, his recurring regrets and fears had faded.
Pure contentment filled him now.
Just then, Nathan’s message arrived:
[Nathan: How’s your health, Scott?
Bring your girlfriend over sometime.]

Scott looked up from his phone to see Pamela and Ginger Tabby-one small, one smaller-playing in the living room.
The diamond ring on Pamela’s finger sparkled with the light.
A happy curve touched his lips as he typed his reply.
Scott: I’m free this afternoon, but she’s not my girlfriend anymore-she’s my fiancée now.
