Chapter 4 

There were only a few sporadic flights at the airport in the early morning, and I was able to find a secluded corner to continue crying helplessly. 

I had received too much information during this time and was already so overwhelmed that I no longer knew how to 

react. 

I just let the electric-like tingling sensation sweep through my entire body, quietly waiting for this feeling to pass. 

During these past few hours, I kept regretting why I didn’t give Nathan a good scolding before leaving. 

I never stopped him from being with Genevieve, but since he liked her so much, why did he come and mess with me? 

Sadness and grievance surged up, and I replied to my mom’s message. 

“I’m out having fun and clearing my head. I’ll be back in a while. 

“Don’t let Nathan come looking for me, or I’ll hide somewhere you’ll never find me for the rest of your lives.” Genevieve kept updating their romantic life on their alternate account. 

But I didn’t really want to pay attention anymore-it would only keep torturing me. 

However, the very next day, that account suddenly cleared all its posts and was deleted. 

Right after that, news of Genevieve leaving the film crew was reported. 

At 3:00 a.m. domestic time, an unknown number sent me a text message. 

“Adeline, you have no heart. You just left without asking me a single question. In three years, did you ever love me, even for a moment?” 

I immediately guessed who it was, my heart pounding like a drum. 

That day at the airport, I had blocked all of Nathan’s contact methods, and now I hurriedly blocked this number too, not even daring to look at my phone. 

Didn’t I love him? I had loved him for so many years, and after we got together, I loved him more each day. 

My mood for sightseeing was instantly ruined. He was the one who did something wrong-how could he still ques- tion me? 

The more I thought about it, the more irritated I became, so I unblocked that number. 

“What about you? Your three years count as three years, but mine don’t? If you don’t like me, can’t you just let me go?”

But he seemed very angry, sending messages each time with a pitiful act while blaming me. 

My mom said he had already bought a plane ticket to come find me. When a friend went to scold him, he just had someone throw her out, then said coldly, “I won’t break up, and I don’t want to explain so much to you. Just remember to come back and apologize later.” 

This whole drama was starting to confuse me. 

On one side was what I had seen with my own eyes, on the other was Nathan’s bold questioning and grievance. 

I lay in bed, unable to figure out what was really going on, no matter how hard I thought. 

They say when you meet someone you truly like, you inexplicably become twisted, especially with Genevieve in the picture. 

If it had been any other woman, I wouldn’t have been so devastated. 

But I had seen how intimate they were, and I clearly remembered how Nathan and I had gotten together in a confused way under our parents’ matchmaking. 

However, after calming down, I felt he had said one thing right. 

I indeed hadn’t asked him about it. Even the dead deserve to die knowing the truth-I couldn’t just leave alone in such an impulsive way. 

“After thinking it through, I realized that even if he admitted to my face that he loved Genevieve, 

even if he confessed that he had indeed done something wrong,
