Eugene shrugged. “Handmade, tailored to fit. Of course, it’s expensive. Don’t worry, I have the receipt, clearly showing the price. You can’t back out.” 

Rosalind clenched her teeth, muttering a curse under her breath. 

If she had known she would run into two robbers today, she might as well have stayed at the hotel and waited for Christopher to show up. At least then, they would just have had a big fight. It would have been far less expensive 

than this. 

Eugene smirked. “What, doesn’t Christopher give you money to spend? A couple hundred thousand is nothing to you, right?” 

Christopher was indeed generous with her. 

He would buy anything she wanted, even things she didn’t ask for. 

“I don’t want to use his money,” she said firmly. 

Eugene raised an eyebrow.”Because you’re about to divorce him?” 

“Partly,” Rosalind replied quietly. “I’ll pay for it myself once I get a job.” 

Later that afternoon, a strange number appeared on her phone. 

After a moment’s hesitation, Rosalind answered. It was Eloise on the other end.”Rosa, where are you? Christopher is here, and he’s practically tearing the hotel apart looking for you.” 

“I… I just didn’t want to see him, so I left,” Rosalind replied. 

“Is where you are safe?” 

‘I think it’s safe enough,” Rosalind said.”It’s just a bit expensive.” 

“Well, as long as you’re safe, that’s what matters. If you’re short on money, I can have Charlotte transfer some to you.” 

‘No need for that. I’ll let you know if I need anything,” Rosalind said. 

Eloise sighed. “You haven’t seen the way Christopher is acting. He’s like a lion in a rage. It’s terrifying.” 

Rosalind paused before replying, “We’ve reached a point where we can’t go back. He’s just struggling to accept it. Once the baby is born, he won’t have time to bother me anymore.” 

Eloise asked cautiously, “He still seems to care a lot about you. I’ve been meaning to ask… how can he love you so much and still cheat on you?” 

“Please don’t ask,” Rosalind replied, her voice tight. 

Eloise pressed, “It’s because of me, isn’t it?” 

“Christopher was not only looking for you, but he was also finding Vernon…” Eloise asked, her voice heavy with concern. “Does the tension between you two have anything to do with the night I was assaulted?”

Rosalind took a deep breath and answered, “No, don’t overthink it.” 

“Rosa, is it because he misunderstood that you and Vernon were involved? That’s why he’s been seeing someone 

else?” 

‘No, Eloise. Please stop guessing.” 

Despite Rosalind’s constant denials, Eloise wasn’t stupid. 

She had always seen how much Christopher loved Rosalind. 

She had also witnessed his fury when he talked about wanting to find Vernon. 

The only thing that could link those two incidents was what had happened that night. 

Eloise had pieced everything together and found the truth. 

“You kept the secret to protect me, didn’t you? You couldn’t tell Christopher why you went to the hotel with Vernon that night, and you never mentioned that I was there too. So, Christopher has always misunderstood. He’s angry because of that, and that’s why he’s seeing someone else…” 

Rosalind suddenly felt utterly helpless. “Eloise…” 

Eloise’s voice softened. “I’m going to find Christopher right now. I’ll tell him the truth. I can’t stand seeing him 

misunderstand you like this.” 

Suddenly, Charlotte’s frantic voice came through the phone.”Eloise, something’s wrong. A few photos of Rosalind from her school days with an older professor have just gone viral…” 

‘What?” Eloise exclaimed. 

‘I don’t know who did it, but the forums are flooded, and it’s trending on Twitter. It’s clearly been orchestrated. 

Now everyone is saying…” 

‘Say what?” Eloise demanded. 

They’re saying… Rosalind slept with the old professor to secure her place in the school… She used her body to take the spot from others…” 

Eloise screamed, “Who did this? Find out who’s behind it.” 

Rosalind sneered.”I know exactly who did it.”
