Rosalind shot back, “Mr. Benitez, if you provoke me again, I’ll tear up this receipt right now.”Â
“Don’t,” Eugene quickly said. “I’m just making sure you’re certain. I was worried Christopher’s treatment of might make you hesitate.”Â

She wouldn’t hesitate. Whether she wanted to or not, she had to let go.Â
“So, what are you planning to do after the divorce?” Eugene asked.Â
“Find a job,” Rosalind replied.Â
She had studied hotel management in college, and for years, she had lived the life of Mrs. Foret. Christopher had always disapproved of her working outside.Â
“Even in management, the hotel industry is all about service. You still have to bow to the guests. Rosa, we don’t need that kind of life.”Â
Looking back, it had been a huge mistake.Â
Love blindness really was a dangerous thing.Â
Eloise had just finished filming and was resting at home.Â
Rosalind didn’t feel like going back home after finishing everything, so she decided to spend some time withÂ
Eloise.Â
As soon as Eloise heard that Rosalind was thinking about finding a job, she perked up, “Why don’t you become my manager? We can work together!”Â
Rosalind wasn’t enthused. “I don’t know anything about your industry. Without the right skills, I won’t even take on a small project. I’d rather stick to what I know.”Â
“You want to work in a hotel?” Eloise asked, a bit surprised.Â
“Yeah,” Rosalind replied, “My parents paid for my education. I want to put it to use. And… you know my family’s situation. I’ll get back the hotel that belongs to my dad, eventually.”Â
Rosalind’s father had always been in the hotel business, and they were once quite well–off.Â
But later, some of his so–called “friends” set him up, draining away most of his life savings.Â
Afterward, debt collectors came to their door daily, threatening and harassing them, making life impossible.Â
Eventually, Rosalind’s father was forced to sell the hotel at a very low price and went to prison.Â
Later, Rosalind discovered that those “friends” had bought the hotel from him, setting the whole thing up to stealÂ
it from him.Â
Eloise suddenly smaXXed her forehead.“Wait, my next project is filming in San Francisco, and the crew has booked the Wesley Hotel. Why don’t you apply there? If you get the job, I’ll get you a three–year presidential suite package. Your job performance will be the least of your worries. I’ll make sure of it.”Â
Rosalind knew the Wesley Hotel.Â

It was a luxury hotel brand under Nimbus Hotel, located in the heart of San Francisco’s business district. The guests were all the rich and famous–celebrities, wealthy businesspeople–the kind of crowd that was either rich or powerful.Â
Wesley Hotel had even tried to acquire her father’s hotel at one point, and her father had seriously considered it.Â
But after some unexpected events, the deal was forced to fall apart.Â
“But I heard the current owner of Wesley Hotel is the younger son of the previous owner. He’s a mysterious figure; barely anyone’s seen him.”Â
Rosalind found a recruitment website and sent in her resume for a position as the manager of the Housekeeping Department.Â
The mysterious owner was even better. As long as he didn’t know Christopher, things would be easier.Â
San Francisco was far enough that Christopher wouldn’t have much influence there.Â
Rosalind had expected to wait a few days for a response, but that same evening, she got a call from Wesley HotelÂ
- HR.Â
“Hello, Ms. Johansen. We’ve reviewed your resume, and we believe your background is a perfect match for the client manager position. Would you be available to come to San Francisco for an interview next Monday?”Â
Rosalind quickly responded, “Sure, I’ll be there on time.”Â
